does anyone know of some kind of folk art in which cut out wood is used?

wanting to start my own business trying to get ideas i paint folk art want to paint on wood cut outs any ideas?

if you have a band saw or a jig saw the sky is the limit try shapes that might originally have a use such as a breadbox, mail box outer shell, things that people in your area use on a daily basis look into some of the country living catalogs and see what is being done when you find something go for it and sooner or later other things will appeal to you. good luck in the new year

I would go with a few things unique to your home area (animals, flowers, historical events/people/places, etc)

Perhaps do a little of everything too - then you meet the wants of everyone who has a liking for different animals, flowers, designs, etc...
