I have two cats, one male and one female. Both are fixed and have been indoor cats since I adopted them. They are both about 4 1/2 years old and usually get along pretty well. Don't get me wrong, they have had their little kitty tiffs over the years, but lately the male cat has been mauling my female cat. She is much smaller in size than he is and he uses this to his advantage. Tonight he got her so good that I had to separate the two of them. There was fur EVERYWHERE from where he had torn it out of my poor girl kitty. I inspected her closely for wounds and did not find any, and they're both back to normal now. I can't think of any reason for the sudden change in his behavior. There's been no change in diet, no big move, virtually no changes here. Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks!

I would take him to the vet. Perhaps he's got a bug, and it's bringing out the worst in him!

It could also be smells in the house...have you changed detergents? Started using a different air freshener?

There is a product that you can buy at most pet store chains, a spray/mist, that you can spray on the cat to calm him down. The rescue group that I worked with used it for particularly stressed or aggressive cats. I'm adding a link to that *section* of the Petco site, but I don't remember exactly which product they used! It's worth giving it a try.

Umm the kitten is probably having withdraw, continue to feed her, maybe more than usual, play with her all the time to make her sleepy and for the aggressive-ness(sp) lots of love. some cats just have a mean streak and will always be that way. My kitten is VERY clumsy, she walks under the table and smacks her head, runs into walls, but she has started to grow out of it. Good luck, and if it is because of the crack it will leave her system just give it time..

that's odd, just to be on the safe side i would take him to the vet. little tiffs are to be expected but when a cat gets very aggressive it can be a sign of illness. good luck.

Maybe he is not feeling well or she could smell different for some reason.
