It's pretty well known that women are attracted to guys with money. There was some experiment in which they even took some monkeys and gave one male monkey more food than the other male monkeys and the female monkeys went to him to mate more.

The thing that doesn't make sense is that money is a transferrable object. It has nothing to do with a person's character or looks.

So here's the question:

Let's say you're the type of woman to be attracted to money: If you had two twins standing next to each other, and I gave one a blank check for a million dollars, presumably you'd be attracted to him. If I walked over and took the check away from him and gave it to his twin, would you suddenly feel sexually attracted to the twin?

I'm trying to understand how this works, if it's a genuine emotional attraction, or just logical strategy.

A blank check doesn't have any amount assigned to it.

Women aren't attracted to the man with the money, they're attracted to the money. If they can obtain the money without having to sleep with the man, then so much the better for them. If they find the man attractive without money being a factor, then sex with him is just a bonus to getting the money.

One thing your scenario doesn't take into consideration is the ability of the woman to attract the man to her. Or inability, as the case may be. If she doesn't think she can get the man to be attracted to her in order to obtain his money, then she'll settle for less, but still a man she thinks she can get the most from.

I think that the money attraction usually works for less attractive guys. When the guy lacks a quality that attracts a girl and she notices that she has a lot of money, she'll probbaly go for him because he'll compensate for what's lacking in the chemistry financially through gifts or such. A lot of girls also like to be taken care, makes them feel special and i guess money does that superficially.

Good point. As you had said earlier, the female monkey mated more often with the male monkey with more food. Why would she want to settle for less food for the same amount of energy to mate? It is purely common sense.

Well, most women are attracted to money for security purposes but not all women are gold diggers. Women are just instinctly searching for a mate where they can survive. It's difficult to choose between love but no money and money but no love. If you sincerely love someone but has no way to survive, it could also lead to serious problems someday that can cause your break-up. If you choose money but no love, then you are financially secure but emotionally not. But there are some cases where love just develops as time passes by. So, it really depends on the woman's principles, upbringing and outlook in life.

I really dont think that we are necessarily "attracted" to guys with money, we just see them as the more "secure" ones. Plus, people who marry just for money usually dont have the kind of relationship that couples who actually love each other do.

So, I would say that it is more a logical strategy than a genuine attraction.

I am not necessarily attracted to a man with money - rather - a man with money has certain traits about him that women find appealing.. goals, some sense of responsibility, etc... Money is not the cause of being "attractive" to a female, it's more about the person's character and WHY they have money.

Your mixing apples and oranges. In your scenario,She would first be attracted to the money.Sexual attraction has no role.Sex for her would just be going through the motions. Some women are "gold diggers" as suggested in this hypothisies.Other women just choose to date a person who happens to be able to provide her better things in life.Nothing wrong with that. She's not out for money first and would date a man for who he is first but she hopes he's got a good job.:) I say "Good for her"

Well.... sort of from an evolutionary standpoint, women are attracted to men who they think will be able to provide for them and their young, should they have any---and now days everybody is getting pregnant. It's not such a bad thing to want a guy to be able to help out shoud you have kids together. Gold diggers are bad though.

They're attracted to men with money in a way that they know that the man can support them no matter what, not because he has a check for a mil bux. I hope you can understand this.

For some it's just a selfish strategy but there are women who are genuinely attracted to someone regardless of their worth.
