Passive-aggressive is pushing people around through passive (non overt) means.

The jerk on the road who slows down in traffic when people are behind them, but speeds up just enough to not allow safe passing when people try to pass him is exhibiting passive-aggressive behavior.

Passive-aggressive, on the other hand, is NOT the jerk who tailgates you on the road, and then switches lanes with you and continues to tailgate you (OR who then passes you and flips you off).

Passive-aggressiveness is when someone shows mean/irritating/bullying behavior toward another person but not in a directly confrontational way. High school girls are especially good at this.

I hope someone can give you an example because I'm drawing a blank on a good one...

Passive-aggressive is when you avoid or obstruct something in an indirect way. Your girlfriend gave you a shirt you really don't like. You "forget" you have it on and offer to help your buddy work on his car, getting grease and oil all over it. "Sorry babe, I really loved the shirt, but it's ruined now."

Passive aggressive is when you are driving and wave someone in to merge in front of you and then when they are not looking you scream, "Come on MOVE YOUR ***!!!"....
