The story of Job is where the great issue of Worshiping God really started. Satan came before God and basically challenged him. Stating "yes Job is good, but that is only because you protect him". "Take away that and he will curse you". The challenge was set and Satan was allowed to do what ever he choose to Job except Kill him. Satan put Job through many problems and yet Job continued to worship and believe in God. Even when his friends and family tried to persuade him to turn away. It is a lesson for us even to this day, that no matter what we go through (remember who is doing it to you) and stay strong.

To me it shows that God can do something really good in your life while it looks like you are heading for the toilet. I read this book about thirty times until I got it and it remains my favourite book in the Bible. In the beginning Job had a nagging wife, bratty kids and friends not worth having. By the end of it he had a great wife twice as many kids that didn't need him to pray for their sins everyday and much more wealth. He also had an understanding of God that money just can't buy. The process which God used to bring this about seems like an abomination to us but the results are staggering. I learned that God wants to improve our life and if we trust Him through the process He will.

Job's story is one of faith in God through all adversity. In reading the story of Job, you find that Satan had to approach God and ask permission to attack Job to begin with. Satan told God that, since He had built a fence around Job, Satan couldn't touch Him; but that if God would take down the fence, Satan could cause Job to turn against God. God had so much faith in Job, that He took down the fence, and allowed Satan the opportunity to destroy Job. Satan proceeded to take away all of Job's land, his workers, his cattle/sheep, his income, his wealth, and killed all his children. Even Job's wife told Job that he should just curse God and die. However, as he lie in ashes and dressed in rags, he refused to blame God for his problems. So no matter what Satan took from Job...which was basically everything except his life, Job still maintained his faith in God. As a result, when the trial of Satan was over, Satan had to admit he was wrong, and that Job's faith was strong despite his riches. Then God blessed Job two-fold with all that he had previously possessed, including twice as many children as he had before. The importance of this story is to show that, although we often go through rough times, if we continue to praise and trust God that He knows and is doing what is best for us, the outcome is greater than the beginning. One of my favorite scriptures, as I've stated in a few other answers, is this: "Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, but the evidence of things not seen." There is no reason for faith if we can see the outcome ahead of time. It is the faith that, if we stand strong in what we believe, that what we need or desire will come to pass. So, Job's story is definitely one of faith in God, but it is also a story of God's faith in His children.

Job 2:3-5: "And Jehovah went on to say to Satan: “Have you set your heart upon my servant Job, that there is no one like him in the earth, a man blameless and upright, fearing God and turning aside from bad? Even yet he is holding fast his integrity, although you incite me against him to swallow him up without cause.” 4 But Satan answered Jehovah and said: “Skin in behalf of skin, and everything that a man has he will give in behalf of his soul. 5 For a change, thrust out your hand, please, and touch as far as his bone and his flesh [and see] whether he will not curse you to your very face.”

Skin in behalf of skin, and everything that a man has he will give in behalf of his soul

Satan brought everyone of us into the picture when he said "every thing a man has" The thing being questioned here is integrity, not only Job's, but ours as well. Will we serve God because we love him, or because of what we gain. Job proved himself, but what will we do?

Proverbs 27:11: "Be wise, my son, and make my heart rejoice, that I may make a reply to him that is taunting me."

to let you knoweven when you do go through trying times, God sees all and knows all, and that Satan's steps are ordered by God, meaning He can't do but soo much to you. And even though God let's us go through tough times, He's still there with us even when we can't trace Him. And if we stand firm in Him and believe that He is God, He'll restore everything we lost. The bible says he that cometh to God must come beleiving that He is, and that He's a rewarder to them that diligently seek Him. So if you're going through tough times, remember Job lost all he had and was restored even more in the end.

That Bad things don't happen because of family sins. Also it proves perserverence. The whole time he was in pain and anguish he still was faithful to God. He knew that God had a plan for his life. It shows that when we weather the storm it can be even more beautiful and worth while than it was before also that God thanks those who believe in him no matter what.

Job was a human being too and had his moments of complaint. He was a righteous person but it was only with God's approval that he went through his difficulties.

Thanks for this reminder! The tough stuff we go through has to pass through God's approval first. He molds us through the trying times to have the character traits he needs to see in us.

That no matter what satan did to Job, he never lost his faith in God, and always felt that those things were happening to him because he must have deserved it some how. And through his never ending faith and love for God, God not only restored all that Job had lost in life, but God returned it to Him many times fold for his dedication and faith in God for him and his life.

That there is meaning in suffering. When you hear of Job mentioned outside of the old testament (New Testament) you see it refered to the "patience of Job"
