I've been using the Cybex Arc Trainer which seems to burn more calories than the treadmill according to the calorie meter on the machine. It includes weight when calculating burned calories.

I just want to know if this is the most effective choice.

From what I understand........ it's the machine that will keep you on it for 30+ minutes, get your heart rate up, and make you use the most of your body. If you get on a treadmill and barely go at a stroll compared to getting on the bike and staying on there for an hour then you are better off on the bike. If you really enjoy the elliptical trainer then stick with that. Honestly it seems to be whatever machine will get you moving, and keep you going at your target heart rate is the best. How do you "feel" after you've been on the bike? Treadmill or Elliptical? Do you enjoy one more than the other? Work out harder or for longer on one? And yes, you should vary your work out and add resistance to your workout. So change it up a bit, and add weights. Use the machine that gives YOU a good workout. You'll know when you are on it if it's challenging you, and if you feel good about it when you're done. Make it fun yet challenging!

i have an elliptical machine and a treadmill. the treadmill is much harder to do but definitely burns more calories. according to my machines the elliptical machines burns more calories BUT my body proves otherwise.

early on i just had the treadmill and was in great shape. i became pregnant and stopped using it. we got our elliptical machine after we had the baby so we had both and my weight was about the same. we moved and the treadmill broke so i worked out extra hard on the elliptical and the results were there but not nearly the same as the treadmill. FINALLY we got the treadmill fixed and i am losing the weight! woohoo.

get on the treadmill and run, run, run! SD

the elliptical burns the most I have noticed, but you do have to have resistance and not just loll through it like I see some gymers do. I like to split the machines up like 20 min each or something. The rower really works my back and the stepper is a killer! I do the bike to warm up or treadmill.

i would choose treadmill
but if u wanna lose more calories increase the Incline to the highest and just walk
i do that everyday for about 45 minutes
and i lose like 45-50 calories per minute

i dont know if there's a better way.

if the device tells you the mets of your workout, then that area is precise. take weight in kg situations by employing mets e.g fifty 5*10 = 550. to be certain what share energy are burnt in a million hour of the workout then divide for this reason to be certain energy burnt in accordance with how long you exercised for
