you wrap the bottom with a towel and bang it as hard as you can off a wall about 10 times and the cork will come out a bit then you pull it the rest of the way wit your teeth

Isn't there a way of holding the bottle on it's side and tapping it's base gently and repeatedly against a (cushioned) vertical surface like a wall.
I think some pressure builds up forcing the cork out.
Or something like that.

You lose. You can get the cork out by gently tapping the bottom of the bottle for a long time.

Well if to see that most of the wine bottles today have a cap instead of cork so I think you don't really need a corkscrew or to push it in.....just go anti clock wise...and enjoy.

get some one else to do it for you or you could just break the bottle it sounds like the trick "I bet i can drink the shot that is under these hat with out touching the hat" you lean over the hat for a few seconds then sit back. when they ask you if you did it you say see for your self when they lift off up the hat you take the shot up and drink it there you didn't touch the hat did you it even works

Well, I would think that you could do it by warming the wine. That would create steam which would create pressure which would push the cork out.
Not sure how tasty the wine would be after that but I think basic science tells us this method would work.

The answer is obvious as I've done this many times as i like my red wines above room temperature, or nicely chambraid, i put it in the sink with hot water and eventually the cork eases out until you can pull it out with your fingers. And also there isn't a problem with champagne. I wouldn't recommend the above technique with white wine though it tastes foul. 10 points to me i believe and Happy New Year.

I've actually just push in the cork with the end of a butter knife out of sheer desperation therefore having to drink the 1.75 liters all at one sitting.

With a sword...Putting the sword or knife on the neck of the bottle, and slice it upwards, and you'll see the cork with the glass still around it, but off of the bottle...I know it sounds weird but I saw it on a wine channel
