There are archeological evidences of Jesus' existence and they are also refuted.
The whole thing is still a controversy.

As mentioned by others, the Roman historian Josephus wrote about Jesus. Although he wrote very little, what he had to say was basically positive. It stated that Jesus was a man of many followers, he was known for being a healer, and even after his death he was important to his followers.
The more important question, perhaps, is what do we REALLY know about Jesus? Unfortunately, any details about Jesus were written by Christians, and those writings were not put together during Jesus' lifetime. The oft-quoted book of John was probably written some 60 years after Jesus died!
So...historians believe that Jesus existed, but his significance (or lack thereof) is based on faith. As a Christian, Jesus is quite significant to my life...

There is as much proof as there is for the exisitence of any historical figure, if you look at the material fairly. I may not be able to convince you that Abraham Lincolm existed, but the same "proofs" you apply to him, could apply to Jesus. Books were written by eye witnesses-- including some outsifde the Bible. His life changed the world in so many ways. You may not believe He is God-- that requires faith, but it would be hard to imagine that He never even existed. People left their life long beliefs and practices to embrace the things He taught. They went to their deaths rather than renounce Him. Predcitions made thousands of years earlier and recorded in the Old Testament books were proven true.

No.
"No one has the slightest physical evidence to support a historical Jesus; no artifacts, dwelling, works of carpentry, or self-written manuscripts. All claims about Jesus derive from writings of other people. There occurs no contemporary Roman record that shows Pontius Pilate executing a man named Jesus. Devastating to historians, there occurs not a single contemporary writing that mentions Jesus. All documents about Jesus got written well after the life of the alleged Jesus from either: unknown authors, people who had never met an earthly Jesus, or from fraudulent, mythical or allegorical writings. Although one can argue that many of these writings come from fraud or interpolations, I will use the information and dates to show that even if these sources did not come from interpolations, they could still not serve as reliable evidence for a historical Jesus, simply because all sources derive from hearsay accounts."
Some posters are mentioning the historians who spoke of Jesus in their writings. I will list each below.
Josephus Flavius was born in 37 C.E., well after the crucifixion of Jesus.
Pliny the Younger was born in 62 C.E.
Tacitus was born in 63 C.E.
Suetonius was born in 69 C.E.
None of these men could have known Jesus, as he died before their birth.
Someone below me also mentions the Shroud of Turin, but even believers admit this is a fake. It was carbon dated to around 1200 C.E., and the 'blood' on it is red ochre dye, common at that time.
Also, while the gospel writers are unknown, the dates of their writing are generally known and held in concensus by Bible historians.
The earliest Gospel, Mark, is dated to sometime after 70 C.E., more than 40 years after the death of Jesus (recall that people of that time rarely lived longer than 30).
The latest Gospel, John, is dated to sometime after 90 C.E.

Yes, the bible. (Nah, only joking) There is very little written outside the bible about him and what was written is extremely dubious. You would think that someone with his profile would have been better documented.
I just read david's cut & paste. Jesus did not fulfill the most fundamental prophecy. He could not have been the messiah because he was not of the house of David. His stepfather, Joseph was, but he was not Jesus biological dad.

YES, there is historical and some archeological proof. He was mentioned by a number of early historians. There were also a number of findings from his era that point to his existance. I do not have the information at my fingertips but I can locate it if you contact me. Have a great day!

Yes you can purchase splinters from his cross from any souvenir stand in Israel. For the right price you can get blood coated rusty nails from his hands. Or a blood stained thorn from his crown. If you have about 1,000 dollars you can get his actual garments that were gambled for among the Roman guards auctioned every Tuesday. What more proof do you want? xx

TONS of it like the person above said, thats the wonderful thing about the Bible, it has INDEPENDANT sources that can confirm it. There are Pagan historians, Greek historians, Roman historians, Jewish historians that all mention Jesus Christ as alive at a time. Even mentioning his cruxifiction. If your truly interested you can read, Case for Christ by Lee Strobel.
As for references, someone above me already mentioned the names of the historians...Josephus, Philly the Younger. etc etc
