It might saw it's Freeware, or Shareware. Sometimes it says it's a "free trail" which means after 30 days usually if you don't buy a license, it stops working. Sometimes it's Sponsor-ware, meaning it has annoying advertisements, the sponsors are paying the developer. If you download anything, usually if you got to pay for a block will pop up telling you got 30 days to try it, and then register it. Ok, nuf said. What free software, go to Nonags www.nonags.com one of the many good freeware sites where you can download all sorts of software, no strings attached. Don't worry the Software Cops won't kick in your door if you download shareware and don't pay for it, the program will simply stop working after so many days. Happy New Years by the way, yeah.

The website you download it off of should mention it, and usually big name company software should not give you viruses (such as Photoshop, Paintshop pro, Itunes, the list goes on) but if its some company or brand you havent heard of before, i reccomend u have norton and some other spyware protecter such as webroot spysweeper

It says on the page you download it from. If for any reason it doesn't, then its usually included in either the file called "README", or has a EULA displayed upon installation.

Most download sources will state their policy - whether it is freeware, shareware or licensed for purchase.
