I had opened an american express credit card and with generousity added my ex( was my bf at the time). Now that we arent together anymore I just want him to pay his side of the bill. He recently quite his job now and he owe about $800 on the bill. I am so upset because this will mess up my credit. I admit it was very stupid of me to do that and I learned from it. I know he has no income but he should have thought of that before he quite. A couple of weeks after we broke up he still charged items on the card and I am upset because he should have paid it out. We are not together jus pay the bill out and I will close it. I dont have any income coming in aswell but if I did i would have pay it out and have him pay me back before I get a bad credit or worse. What should I do?

He has a seperate card with his name on it but it is on my account. When I go online to pay a bill it will ask or show each seperate account.

First, close the account, it will only take one quick phone call. You don't want any further problems. And legally all you can do is take him to small claims court to get him to pay, and that will cost you $50 bucks for a court date. For now, you should make the minimum payment required to keep your credit in good standing. If it's only at 800 or so, the minimum payment should be fairly low, and it will be worth it to keep your credit.

You should call American Express and cancel his card immediately. At least try to pay the minimum payment and in the mean time, try to get a job. If you only owe 800, the minimum payment wont be more than 30 dollars a month. You gotta bear with it and pay the minimun - don't let it ruin your credit. It doesn't worth ruining your credit like that. Wishing you all the best and have a happy new year !

First of all, call the card company because with you being the primary card holder, you and only you have the authorization to cancel his card. Second of all, just rip up the cards and order new ones when you do have a job. If you can prove he charged all these itmes, take him to court and make him pay up. Call the card company and have the card canceled. If he tries to use it, it will be declined.

like the other answer....report your cards lost or stolen....have his name removed from your account......and you will have to pay your account to keep your credit clean
BUT you do have the option of taking him to small claims court....the filing fee is minimal ..a court date will be set and he will be given a summons to report to court, then you bring all your records, statements, payment receipts etc.for that credit card account showing his card doing the purchases and you should be awarded the amount he owes plus interest if there is any and pay for the court fees since you will add it to the total he owes you, since he was too childish to pay it in the first place

GOOD LUCK............HAPPY NEW YEAR :o)

You can ask him to pay all you want but unless you have proof that he is responsible for that portion of the bill and you take him to court then there really isnt anything you can do. Until you get married do not for any reason add anyone to your accounts.

Cancel your cards immediately, say they were lost and stolen.
In terms of getting paid, talk to the ex and make sure you reach a level of understanding before it degenerates into a ***** fight!
It could get really nasty
