Antibiotics do nothing to your immune system. They can do something to the bacteria.

If you take an antibiotic, and some of the bacteria evolve to resist the antibiotic, then you will be left with bacteria that are immune to the drug. If they reinfect you, then the first antibiotic will be useless.

This can happen with any kind of antibiotic. There are now "superbugs" which are immune to every known antibiotic. One of the most widespread is tubercolosis.
