Me and my mom were cooking and we let Olivia (my Yorkshire Terrier) to walk around our apartment. I soon wondered where she was, so I went to our bedroom and saw her sleeping on the floor. She came to us and was shaking and shivering. We do not know if our cat (9 years old) scratched her, or it's simply a nightmare. She's calmed down now, but I want to make sure. She's in perfect health, up to date with her shots, and she's very good on walks. She also panted a bit.. Please give me advice?

little dogs like yorkies are high energy. the shaking could be a sighn of energy and so could the panting. next time she does this, take her for a short romp. dreams are also a possibility though. and your dog will get used to your cat. but supervise them!

It may have been a nightmare. Was she sleeping in a usual place or was she just lying in the middle of the floor? I ask because she might have had a seizure. I would be concerned if she was in an unusual spot. My little dogs always sleep on the couch or the chair, never the floor.

If that is the case, I would watch her closely and take her to the vet for a check up as soon as possible.

It's really hard to tell...if there was a cat there...it could have caught her off guard. As long as she is eating good...stools are normal...no vomiting keep a close eye on her....The small Toy dogs are the most fragile. If any of the above changes do call a Vet, as they usually need to be seen right away. I think maybe she was just startled.

she could of bit a cord (like you know chargers, telephone, ect.) that were plugged into the wall.

it could have been a nightmare, and dogs and cats have a way of communicating with eachother so maybe the cat scared it.

my pit bit a cord in the wall and shaking all over and panted and all that stuff.
it could be a possibility.

just unpliug everything out of the wall.

She was a little startled because she had just woken up.Nothing to worry about. Sometimes when dogs waken suddenly they will shake.
