We officially broke up 2.5 years ago, continued to talk, were together briefly 1.5 years ago, and have remained in contact. He is out of the country, so most contact is via e-mail. I consider him to be one of my best friends, and we had a very intense relationship. We will not get back together because he intends to stay out of the country (and miscellaneous other reasons).

You will never be able to get over your ex if you still remain to have contact with him. I am going through the same thing too. I stop talking to him for a month and I feel that wound in my heart disappear. The minute I talk to him again the wound re opens but only bigger. He may be a really good friend but how can you you go forward if you keep hitting a road block.

What I gather from subsequent and prospective is that you really haven't found a new one yet. So without making comparison it would be be more fair of you to give all us guys a chance and see just where the road takes you! Whether you are aware or not, you have absolutely no control over what lies ahead. It sounds as if you are still hung up on your former, while his intentions remain uncertain. If you meet up to all his expectations, it seems strange that anything at all would keep him abroad. Unless of course.....it is another broad!

I think the only way to get over someone is to cut them out of your life. I mean you guys being best freinds is great but you have a history and if you want to be in a good relationship again you got to let him go. I know from alot of breakups and friendships never work out after a break up. so its best for you to stop emailing him or tell him you need to move on and that your gonna stop communication with him. Tell him it was nice being his friend but you got get over him, so either stop emailing him or change your email and say you will not email him. Just forget about him cause there are more fish in the sea.

STOP TALKING TO HIM! How do you expect to move on if your still keeping contact with him. You haven't moved on to begin with. Look there is no easy way to forget or break up with somebody you love, but you have to put your foot down and walk away.

well if the past love is the person your still talking to stop. the more you continue to talk to him the less youll be able to get over him. so dont talk to him untill he doesnt preoccupy your mind so much that way you can both move on

I have been married for 22 years, and I STILL 'THINK, WISH, HOPE, and COMPARE" EX LOVE" TO MY HUBBY----- I'll ALWAYS have a thing for my first love.... or maybe my 'real' love.

long story.. but I married my hubby to get 'my ex back' for making me mad about something-- stupid on my part because I still 'love' him to this day!
