AA or Alcoholics Anonymous, this is not a religous based help group it is Alcholics helping others wile keeping sober themselves. Most do belive in a higher power eventually and some people chose to call that higher power God. I knew one young guy who went into a treatment program and he had a problem with the whole higher power thing. He actually left treatment 3 times (kind of escaped as he had no car so he would walk off) but everytime he left he forgot his tennis shoes. He finally decided that his hgher power must have been his tennis shoes (kind of a stupid thing) as he had to keep coming back for them. He did stay and sober up I lost track of him but I do know he stayed clean for about 18 months at least.

For me I also had a problem with the god thing as well, but I could believe there was something bigger than me. I found my higher power in nature, I suppose like the Indians believe in the Sun, Earth, etc.. I only knew when I was in nature (like in the mountains) I could find peace and I could belive that there was some force which is bigger than myself. I tend to believe in God today but I do not need to define what God is to you or myself. I still find my higher power when I am in nature even if it is just a lovely and peaceful park. I can talk with God when I can find that peace but again I need not worry about who or what that might be.

AA has saved more people than any other organazation in the world, it spans the globe and is 100% non-profit. All donations from people who attend go into paying the rent and buying cofee or a cake for members aniversaries. It is a safe haven for alcholics around the world and you will learn more about yourself in the stories others share about their own life than you could ever imagine.

Peace and good luck, you can begin a whole new life if you let go and let God. But remember you can even find God in a silly pair of Tennis shoes if you look hard enough. And yes that is a true story.

P.S. All you need for an AA meeting is two Alcoholics who are sober and working to stay sober. In fact I have had may AA meetings with a couple of member over a cup of coffee.

AA is the best for helping the alcoholic, it is a fellowship of men and women who share their experience strength and hope with each other and help each other stay sober. It is a spiritual program not a religious program. If you got Yahoo check out Groups...AA2 if you are new to sobriety. Good Luck

i'm worried approximately land stewardship, and approximately having reliable, wholesome grains to consume. yet given each and each and each and all of the initials of the communities reported, alongside with OMFG, i will't shake the sensation it extremely is a satire. be sure out the object decrease lower back, and the initials used for the communities. Do you remember a working laptop or pc hardware employer mentioned as NBI? Or the sound advice of client provider decrease lower back in those days: RTFM? Now you do not even get a handbook with optimum utility.

AA, I understand its history was a Christian fellowship but it's not now. My boyfriend attends NA (same principles) and we're Buddhist. No conflict of interest. It will talk about your higher power, I've met a number of people to tell me that that higher power is their selves.

other then that, right an outpatient group from a local rehab center.
