She is usually a very happy child but now for the last few days if she is not sleeping or being held she is whiny and crying. I have taken to the Dr.and they say she is fine but my "motherly instinct" is saying otherwise....any suggestions....please!!!!

Questions to ask yourself.
1)Did some one abuse her?
2) Any physical symptoms? Such as aches, tummy vomiting, or head ache?
3) Is she eating/drinking?
TRUST the Mommy instinct ...
Be extremely gentle with her so that she feels safe and re-assured. Do not lose your temper. Kids do NOT cry that long unless they are HURTING and unable to describe it.

If she is still doing this tomorrow then call YOUR emergency room and ask to speak to a nurse. A nurse should have the compassion to offer advice on if your daughter should be seen at the hospital. TAKE NO CHANCES go with your gut.
In fact... If she is still so distraught right now... call the ER now.

My son has been like this since Christmas eve. Just extremely clingy and won't give me a second wants to be attached to my hip. But he has an ear infection and the cold so just needs mummy more.
If your not happy with what your doctor said, see a different one. Trust your mummy instinct. If she isn't normally like this it could be she is coming down with something.

Hope things get better!

i think you should go by your motherly instinct'!
so often you hear parents say that even though the doctor says their child was ok, they felt otherwise and later found out something was wrong.
i'd get another dr's opinion. the wingy/clingy behaviour sounds too sudden to be just a developmental stage.

If it is still going on I would take her to another DR - a friend of mine had a son who had broken his arm and it took a week to figure it out -

Also, try calming every thing down , turning down the lights, turn off the tv, a warm bath?? she may be overstimulated from holiday traveling or something like that.

I would follow my motherly instincts and get a second opinion. Is she pulling at her ears? Is her appetite different? These can all be things that you need to look for and report to the doctor.

Take her to another doctor. When my daughter did that, she had an ear infection that the doctor missed. Trust your instinct, and tell them she is not acting like herself and you know something is wrong. You are her advocate and have the right to expect more because she deserves it.

Has anything changed in the household lately? Could something be adding to the stress in the home? Could she be reacting to a change in a parents work schedule? Perhaps she just needs some "mommy" or "daddy" time.

try another doctor the same happened to a friend of mine and it turned out her daughter had a broken hip, so it would be best to get another opinion

It maybe that her imagination is starting to develop, she is having trouble distinguishing real from not real. Just give her lots of hugs and reassure her that everything is fine.

when i was younger i was the same way.Clingy.It is a stage some children go through.Sometimes they feel alone or sometimes they just want attention. You will have to just wait to see if it passes. If it doesnt pass within a few months i advise you to bring her back to the doctors though.
