my guess would be about 5-8 pounds if its about pappilon(maybe spelled wrong) dog size

Depends on the breed. If it's a mix, there's really no standard, you'll just have to wait and see how big it gets.
As long as the dog has a healthy covering of meat over all bony parts, and you can't see ribs or anything, he's at a healthy weight and you shouldn't worry.
