I have some movies that are in avi format on my computer, Is there a way to convert those avi files to a DvD format so I can play them in a dvd player in the living room instead of on the computer?
I can burn the files to a dvd disc and they play on the cpu but will not play in a dvd player The player says: worng disc or read error

Sure is ... lots of different ways and lots of different software that does it. My personal fave is ConvertXtoDVD, it doesn't matter what file format the video is in, it converts it.

The link below is a list of DVD authoring tools.

Enjoy.

Some players are limited to particular format of DVD, my DVD player will only play DVD-R not the +'s.

Another thing most players will not play data files which avi's would be burning an avi to a DVD will not normally work on DVD players, some accept those files not all.

Nero allows you to create DVD style DVDs from multiple file types.

Hope this helps.

It may be just the blank dvd you are using not all of them work on all players. I use two different player in my room and they both read different disc. Keep trying out different disc to see if they work on your home dvd player. Best to buy them one or 5 at a time.

Hi there,
You have to get a video converter like WinAVI or Digital Media Converter. When you burn the DVD make sure you burn the VIDEO_TS and the AUDIO_TS folders
