I have my design it says I (Love Hart) STRUAN i want it to cross my sholder blades from sholder to sholder on my back.I don't mind pain im heavily inked already.Do i use steel when im making the stencil if you know what i mean? How long should it be held to the skin i rekon i could withstand 30secs its logical to me that that should be enough as i dont want to melt straght through the skin.Should i use a steel brush to pick the scar/brand as they do in scarification or should it be left to heal?I really want to research this some more but any help would be much appreciated with points for the best answer. Thanks Kaledonioi

for ucks just get it inked! at least that way you have tne option to cover it. however if you really feel that you wont be complete till you are branded use iron. take the desighn to an iron mongers have a chat with them about the cost of them cutting it for you. it will need to be about 5mm thick. don't tell them what it is for of they may refuse it. you will probably have to add a long stick to hold it yourself, but that shouldnt be so hard. then get a mate you can trst to place it on you. this friend needs to undersatand that you only really have one chance to get it right so even if you are screaming they must continue. as long as the iron is red hot it should only take a couple of seconds (4 or 5) have a safe word tho so that if you really want it to stop it will. have an antiseptic cream and cling film (plastic sandwhich wrapping) to hand! apply the cream immeadiatly-might be a good idea to keep lots of this in the fridge) then cover it in the cling wrap as this will reduce the risk of infection. changethe wrapping every few hours and reapply the cream each time. good uck with this, personally tho i wouldnt do it.

Human Branding Irons

dude this is a very serious painstaking process, some of my friends are branned you need to measure your back with and height, and from that decide the letter or stencil size, it doesnt matter if its stainless or black iron, just has to be clean before starting, when you brand your self make sure that you have an expierienced brander, and do half at a time because your back arches or build your iron to fit the contour of your back, when getting your brand you should numb your back with ice first, then only hold the brand for 1 second no longer , if not skin comes and trust me you will jerk and screw it up, rethink this, big brands are disturbing, and those friends that i have that have them hate them, its not like a tattoo, im inked up as well, and wouldnt do that, be careful remember, 1 to 2 seconds 30 woul burn into your muscle, probably into your bones, remember keep it clean

I don't know about Maryland, but yes there are shops that do it. I live in Indiana and there is a shop about 50 miles from me that does strike branding.

i have some friends who are branded. the ones that look the best were actually done with a cauterizing gun? if that's what it's called. it's a hot needle tip tool and a stencil is put on the skin (just like for tattooing) and the person applying it just traces the skin. some of my husband's coworkers got their badges burned on them that way and they really look good. and they said it didn't really hurt that bad.

the ones with "brands" like done on cows tend to be bigger and less legible and don't heal as well. they tend to look more blobby. most of the people i know with them are fraternity guys.

30 seconds is way too long. A calf takes less than 10 seconds and their hide is a lot thicker than yours.

If you leave the iron on too long, it will burn through your skin and into your muscle. Then you will get sent to a burn clinic for a long stay and have to fight infection. You could lose your ability to move those muscles, too, due to scarring and infection. Worse case scenario is death from infection, but you could also end up paralyzed. Is it worth it?

I suggest you stick with tattoos. Safer.

Go here http://www.bmezine.com

You should be able to find someone that will be able to do it for you in a safe. dterlie environment. DO NOT attempt this yourself, you risk serious harm, infection, and disfigurement. There are trained professionals that are able to do a safe branding that will heal properly.

Good luck

Go to a cattle farm and ask them to make a specialized branding iron. If you can endure pain, then you should have no problem. Afterwards, just stay away from me and my dog you freak!
