hello certified vet tech here . first off if what type of puppy do you have . pure breads are prone to breaking bones ecspecially if they are of a smaller breed . and limping is not a good sign , see if you can touch and move if leg slightly see if he cries out its time to find an emergency vet and take him in. or it might be sore from being stepped on , sometimes the dog is suprised by the pain and may be a little scared to put there foot down but this is a serious matter so one way or the other take care of it

At this time of night you need to take your dog to the emergency vet ASAP, because you don't know what's going on. The leg can simply be a sprain, broken, fractured, split, etc. It will cost a lot; however, knowing that your dog is getting the proper treatment for the leg is what's important as a pet owner. As a pet owner having a puppy these things occur and what's important is to take your puppy in.

I know that when my puppy jumped out of my arms and was walking around on 3 legs I rushed her to the emergency vet because I did not care to wait until tomorrow until my vet opened. In the end it was a sprain, but i was worth it because to me her health is important.

Good Luck.

Take him to the VET-Call your Vet for although closed will have a number to call in a Emergency-there are medical 24hr emergency clinics for animals .found in the Yellow pages. Be very careaaful with thepuppy and most important is to keep him calm so he uses the leg as little as possible. But only a X-ray can determine if fractured.Having a puppy means you simply have to be extra careful esp in where you sep when the puppy is near-your responsibility.

Didn't you just post about his leg being broken? Just get your dog to a vet and see what is really wrong with him! If your trying to avoid the vet because of money issues, talk to your vet about it. Most vets have payment plans that will let you pay a little at a time.

If there is any bruising, swelling, or the leg looks abnormal you should call a vet. I have a dog that once jumped off the couch and started limping, but after a few hours he was okay.

If he is limping his leg is probably not broken, if it was he wouldn't be able to walk on it at all. You might just try to put a splint on it for a day or 2 and give him children's tylenol for pain. Maybe after a good nights rest he'll be ok. I know its hard not to step on them sometimes, I have a 1 1/2 lb. and a 2 1/2 lb. Yorkie and they follow me everystep and I am constantly looking at the floor to make sure they're not in the way. Good Luck.

We can't tell either but a vet will be able to tell if it is broken. Take it to the vet NOW. Broken bones, unchecked and no medical treatment, can lead to amputation of leg.

Take him to a vet immediately or search online for a 24-hour pet emergency hotline. Get the poor dog some care.

DO NOT feel and prod his leg because if it is broken you might cause more damage!! Get him to a vet ASAP!!

ALSO, DO NOT GIVE HIM TYLENOL!! Aceteminophen can be toxic to dogs; only thing they can take safely is ASA (Aspirin), but he's only a puppy so get him to the vet!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
