Every time I go around this cat, he hisses at me and then runs. I don't get it, I haven't ever done anything to it.

He may have been abused before. I had a cat once that was fine around females but hissed then ran from men. The vet said the cat was most likely abused by a male previously

Hi: I love cats and have had a number over the years. There could be a number of reasons. But in my experience the cat was displeased about something I did or was doing. How old is the cat and how long have you had her/him.? What type of background did he/she come from? Sometimes it can be just a little quirk of the cat. like needing more space, feeling threatened, dislike of your cologne, the noise (some do not like loud noise and prefer classical music, especially with a flute or a sax, and so on it goes. The are very interesting animals and its always great to be able to find out what makes them tick, their little habits, etc. They are also great teachers and they tend to have a lot of patience with us until they get us trained. Don't get upset or take it too personal. With my last cat I began to do it to him when he did it to me or displeased me. It worked, we developed a mutual understanding and we got on fine. It was funny to see his face the first few times but it worked out that we could both show our displeasure without too much fanfare. (Of course, he was an exceptionaly bright cat, but aren't they all) Try doing it back to him/her and see what happens. Could be interesting. If anyone sees you doing this, just say its a new type of cat therapy. All the best.

Maybe you picked up another animal's scent on your shoes? Change shoes and see if kitty still hisses at you. If he still does, then recall how you move towards the kitty. Maybe something about your movements (too fast, too heavy, too threatening) makes kitty skittish.
One of my male cats doesn't like men. He will run and hide as soon as he hears a male voice. I think this is becuase he had a bad experience with a man when he was young.

Did you do the introduction properly? in case you actually placed your new kitten contained in the abode with the older cat, then you truthfully regrettably have led to this challenge. Cats are territorial, and consequently introductions favor to be performed properly and properly. Your cats might want to were kept seperate for a even as with introductions really lower than supervision and with using a cage and feeding cases. If all were performed properly, you'll locate that your older cat might want to preserve and preserve the kitten. this is achievable the kitten is merely taking area in bt your older cat will easily be aggravated that another animal without ideal introduction is on his territory. you nevertheless have time, all you want to do is seperate them, confine them to diverse parts and use as an celebration a blanket your older cat sleeps on for the kitten and vice versa, then even as feeding feed at same cases yet keep the bowls some distance from one yet another and steadily bypass them nearer and nearer. even as they're on the point of one yet another you may want to locate, after eating they are going to groom one yet another as many cats wash and groom after eating. even as dealing with the cats, the cats might want to both be dealt with for a similar era of time, taking turns and in no way neglecting any. fairly the older cat. i understand someone who's older cat hated the kitten because it change into presented incorrect and the older cat killed the kitten.

Is it your cat? if not then it is probably afraid of you. If it lives outside then most likly it is feral and needs to just have food put out for it and left alone. If it is your cat...what did you do to make that thing hate you!

He may see you as a threat.... try baby steps....like buy some kitty treats (Feline Greenies is like kitty crack...they love it!) and let him see you putting them down and then just walk away. keep doing this every so often but each time just try moving in a little bit closer untill he knows you mean no harm :)
