How high is high? If you are not gettting the answers from your primary physician, I would find a specialist. Normally when WBC are high, it is a sign of an infection or a virus. When they are abnormally high, it could be a sign of Leukemia. I would get a correct count of your blood work. You need to have a CBC with differential. The differential will tell what the other members of the White Blood cell family levels are. Could be a parasite, allergy so on and so on. This could be a potentially serious problem. I would really be aggressive with your healthcare team. Good luck.

How high. I doubt its leuchemia since your doctor would be freaking. I doubt its an infection, because its been 10 years. Some times people are high because of natural variation. The number printed on the report as being normal isn't an accurate account. The range given is actually 95% of normal patients. 5% of normal patients would be listed as high or low even though they are actually healthy.
Also describe what type of white blood cells are high. Lymph, neutrophils, mono or some other type. A histogram from your cbc might give a better picture. Also rbc won't hurt.

When your white blood cells are low, you are at risk of getting sick. High can indicate leukemia. What really counts is what KIND of WBCs you have.
You said that you had lots of tests. I'm sure that they looked for leukemia and the WBC differential (how many of each type of WBC you have). If they found nothing and you are having no ill effects, it may just be your personal norm.

A high white blood cell count means that you have something in your body that doesn't belong. It could be an infection, it could be cancer, it could be just about anything. If it has been high for that long then chances are you are fine; but you should see a doctor before making any conclusions.

Usually WBC will tell you if you have an infection. Your count should be between 5,000-10,000. If yours are always high it can suggest leukemia. If you have Decreased appetite and weight loss, Bruising of the skin and bleeding from the gums or rectum. Fevers and night sweats. Frequent or unusual infections.
Weakness and fatigue. Headaches, or swollen lymph nodes it is a great possibility you have Leukemia.

If it has lasted for ten years i highley doubt it is leukemia because it would have begun to attack already i just think that you might be under a lot of stress all the time or you don't drink enough and get dehydrated. Well good luck and i hope you don't have leukemia, and i highly doubt you do too.
