My husband and I are (so far) choosing not to have children. We might change our minds someday, but at this point, neither of us really see ourselves ever wanting to have kids of our own. We enjoy other people's children, but we also enjoy giving those kids back to their parents at the end of the day! I'm not keen on wailing infants, diaper changes, tantrums, runny noses, teeball games, etc. I'm not prepared to dedicate my life 100% to a child's needs, and I enjoy the freedom that I have without children. I don't see anything wrong with that decision--rather, I think it would be wrong of me to HAVE children when I'm not prepared to take care of them the way they deserve to have someone take care of them.

There is nothing wrong with not wanting children. Some people just don't like the idea of being a parent...some people never do it out of fear, they're afraid they'll mess the kid up. Others just can't stand children and don't want any because they find kids annoying. There are a select few people who do not have children simply because of medical problems that prevent reproduction. Oh, and I almost forgot, it's a tremendous financial responsibility...there's less freedom in your life also because you can't just take off on vacation or stay out late when you feel like it, you have to be home with the kids. I, personally, want kids. I hope I helped.

Let me just tell you right now...it's hard enough to have children when you want them and tried for them and all that. If you don't want them there is absolutely NOTHING wrong with that. If it's not a personal desire of yours don't let anyone else try to talk you into doing it or tell you that you are wrong for not wanting them. Having a child is probably the MOST personal decision one can make in ones life. If a person doesn't feel capable or responsible enough then he/she should be left alone to live his/her own life as he/she sees fit. Having children is the hardest thing I've ever done in my life. And I'm not talking about the birth part. That was easy compared to every day life.

no, there is nothing wrong with not wanting children. I think it is more mature of some people to say "Well, I want to focus on my career, and therefore do not have time to raise children" than to be selfish and have them anyways then not take care of them (or let nannies do the job 24/7). But, too, a lot of people don't want kids until they have them, and then they can't picture their life without them.
Money, time, desire (ie, hating kids, just not wanting them, etc); all good reasons not to have kids. Same basic reasons that people choose to only have 2 or 3 as opposed to 23.

I do not see nothing wrong with it at all, but if you are not already married , then when you start to date someone , you should be up front with not wanting children . I have three children , and I love every bit about being a mother , but it is not for some people , good luck !

no, kids require a lot of time, money, patience for the rest of your life. it is a big commitment and huge responsibility. I love kids but I would think about it a long time before deciding.
I know from observing that kids do not always turn out like they are raised to. Some of them never grow up and depend on the parent too much or get involved in bad things that the parent has to pay for.
I think having kids is probably the most rewarding thing in the world you can do but there is nothing wrong with deciding not to have them. Especially how the world is today.

There's nothing wrong with people not wanting kids per say. It's just that those who have kids think, for a lack of better words, their not normal, or they just don't like them, which is far from the point, yet they very much are normal and a lot of them love and adore kids; they just made a different choice than those who chose to have them.

Absolutely not! For crying out loud - there's sososososo much responsibility and you can't control any of it, when you get right down to the nitty gritty. It takes everything you've become and spins you in a whirlwind of insecurity and doubt. Even with every book and the best laid plans, parenting takes a complete surrender and selflessness. If you ever decide you are ready for that, then go for it. If not - Thanks for not having kids who'll think you don't like them.
