Muhammad was the man who started the Muslim religion, or is the "father of Islam." He did so by claiming to be the "last prophet" after a life of prophetic leadership. His followers wrote a book on his teachings, which is known as the Quran.
He also claimed to be starting the "last faith" in his "last sermon," which wasn't accurate either. Bahai and the Mormon faiths have been created since then.
His claim to be the "last prophet" hurt a lot of people, because when the real "last prophet," or Messiah shows up, they aren't going to recognize him, much like most Christians who are looking for some guy to fly down from the clouds, with or without holes still in his hands and feet. (Maybe just some hefty scar tissue.)
Sincerely,
Chris

Muhammad is considered by scholars to be the founder of the Islamic faith. He is considered the last and the greatest of all of the prophets by Muslims. I could go further but I think this answers your question.

Muhammad is the Prophet in Islam. If I remember correctly, he wrote down the Quran as it was given to him by Allah. He is not suppose to be represented in any visual way, ie no statues or pictures.

He is the last in a long line of prophets and messengers. God's word was given to him and relayed by the angel Gabriel. He provides us with the proper etiquette to our Islamic lifestyle, is an inspiration of what we aspire to be as humans, and a guide to the people. Ultimately though, his mission was to spread the word of Islam. Peace.

Only the person who he talked too really knows. Like all religions what God said was documented by various people. People have the tendency to imbelish. Have you played that game called Broken Telephone? Look how much words can change with ten people playing. Imagine how much wording can change over 1000 years.

if you don't know this, then you don't know anything about Islam. which is ok, do some searches on yahoo or wikipedia.org on Islam or Muhammad and you will find out.(if you want)..
it is like the importance of Jesus to Christianity. Or simply put Muhammand (pbuh) is the one who bosses around Jesus (pbuh) and commands him to get his coffee while they are walking around the heavens and discussing how their messages had become misinterpreted or corrupted over time by their followers.
