I hope you have had him neutered by now, he is just being playful. When a cat licks you he is kissing you. Yes catnip will really make them crazy and wild and alot of fun to watch. When a cat bites you he is showing you he loves you. I hope you have a book on cats.

Since he is a year old he is now bigger than the kitten and is also stronger aand his nails sharper. He is playing with you just like before and climbing is what cats do- why else would you get him a gaint climber ,unless you knew this .Enjoy your Cat for seems like you two have really bonded and are tight friends. Were it a Real Attack beelieve me there'd be no question and the cat would be doing more serious damage than just breaking the skin-consider the size of the teeth and the sharpness of the claws -would he want to he could. Cats do not get dememted-mental illness is a all human condition. Wear some heavy gloves and long pants or like I do when I play with mine-she has sharp claws too and is she fast when she strikes(PLAYING!!!) I wear heavy socks on my hands for can play and not get bloodied. Have Fun and enjoy the time you two have for no one knows how long that is.

Its just a phase - this "jungle cat" routine. And I know it is scary becuase my cat was just like that when he was 2. I think they don't realize yet how strong and big they have truly become and when they get excited they pounce and bite and scratch as if they were still kittens. Jus give your cat a wide berth for now to let him know that YOU are NOT a TOY when he is in this "Jungle Cat" mode. That is what I did to my rumbuctious male. He clamed down after a while - about a couple of weeks, maybe not even. Coz he never "attacked" me again.

Cats can be so much fun. It is just playing. Do you have cat toys? My cat did something similar for a while. She would crouch down with her eyes looking extra big.....wait for me to walk by and attack my foot. After she bit she would run off like I was chasing her. She doesn't do it anymore. Buy one of those little red laser pointers to tire your cat out. My cat loves to chase that light.

He is wanting to play. My husband had a cat that would attack me everytime I walked in his house. She just wanted me to play with her and her ball/bell toy. Make sure he is getting some type of exercise during the day. Roll a ball to him or have him chase a flashlight beam across the floor... my cat loves that, and we love watching her... Good luck

I think you should talk to your vet about getting him some type of medication to calm him down. At least that is what I would do. I have a cat that is a little off and I'm about to go to the vet to see about getting him some kind of medication, too.

It sounds like he is in the heat. Is he neutered?
