Will a transmission for a 2001 Dodge Neon automatic fit a 1998 dodge neon automatic? (is it compatible)

im not sure off hand....but i do know from exp. dodges electric trans. computers go bad and people think its the trany. so i take the $7-$15. chance from a junk yard before pulling the trany rob n tiff

It would be best to source one from a recycler. Much less expensive and they typically come with a warranty. It is works fine for one day it will work fine for 1000 days. Considering the market value of the vehicle I think used is the way to go on this one. You can call a transmission shop and get a quote for the labor charges to change it over.

the autos in 1998 were 3spd, the 2001 is 4 spd..don't even try to interchange as the 4 spd auto is electronically controlled

Yes. Chrysler was smart and made very little changes from the 1995 neon to the 2005. It will bolt up perfectly and then some.

all depends... you have to look at the electrical connectors... there are two different ones.. if they dont match up it will not work
