Cheapest flights will be in the summer here because in Australia it is their winter and the kids are in school. But dont worry their winter is very mild compare to most States here in USA.
When I go to Brisbane, I can still swim in the ocean during the day. You will still need jacket for early mornings and late at night as it does get nippy.
If this is your first time to Australia, every cent you pay for your air tickets will be worth it as you will have a good time.

Australian winter season is the cheapest and Air China has the cheapest tickets with a stop over to break the 14hrs in the air in Tipai. and ya can earn alot of fly miles aswell.
The weather is alot better if ya head over and travell about in winter, as long as ya havent gone too far south of Aust I dought ya wanna see snow or the cold but winter is the shot there are no Box Jelly fish nor are there any crocs roaming about rivers and billabongs during the rainny season (summer)........... and no Mozzzies (mosquiteo). Australia has the wet season during our summer and it get kinda bloody humid I know a few hoosiers dont mind it but I hate the bloody thing cause ya wanna stay in doors instead of getiing out and about.
Concider yaself lucky winter and air fares go hand in hand with the USA and Australia
