This is a no thought process, just pick NTSC if you are in North America or Japan, anywhere else, probably PAL. Its that simple. Dont listen to the people who say, "PAL has more resolution" blah blah blah, because none of that applies. (For capture, anyways) Hope this helps!

I am not an authority on this subject by any means but have picked up some knowledge while searching solution to my problem. PAL is said to have better resolution but NTSC is better with rapid motion...sports etc. What you should have depends where you live or where the camcorder is going to be used. If you live in the North Americas and do not own a PAL system-based or Multisystem TV, then choose NTSC. If you live in Europe, Middle East, Asia and many countries other than USA and Canada, then PAL is for you. I think Philipines has NTSC but I am not sure. Hope I helped. Happy Camcording. Mahboob

If you are in the United States or Japan, answer NTSC. If in Europe, PAL. Not sure about Australia, Africa, or the rest of Asia.

You are so lucky to have both on your camera. Use NTSC if you will play back in US. For the rest of the world I guess they have pall but they have electronics that are compatible with NTSC too.
