My female cat has been in heat for about 3 days now and I was wondering how much longer. I will get her spayed as soon as she is not in heat anymore. It cost more if they are in heat when you do it. She is driving me bananas.

She'll be in heat up to a week.

And if you don't get her spayed, she'll go into heat every few weeks or whenever she senses a male cat.

Depending on how many times she's gone into heat, it may take a month or a few months for her to settle down after her operation.

Cats go in and out of heat continually, over periods of time. One heat session can last up to a week ! My two sister cats were in heat together for a long time. In and out and over and over for like 4-7 days and they kept going back into heat a few days later once they were done ! Yours will too, so it is a good thing your getting her fixed. I know what you mean, it can drive you crazy with the constant mournful meowing and tail-lifting! But the sooner you get her fixed the better, she will be happier and so will you. I'm pretty sure it doesn't cost more when your cat is in heat to get her fixed but it might depend on the veterinarian you have.
Good Luck!

It's typically about 5 days, but it can last up to 7 just like it does with humans. Expect 5 though.
