Very rare...but yes it can happen. If the dogs mated twice with several days between or another male crashed the place and had a date with the female several days after the first mating. It is not uncommon to bred the male and female several times during the heat cycle. Usually the litter kind of all comes together into one.....obviously this one stayed separate. It is a strange happening however! Write this one down in the books....I am curious as to what breed of dog pulled this off???

Yes this can happen but rarely. Did she show any signs of being in pain or labor? Were the puppies born on the 30th alive? Sometimes if a puppy is in the birthcannal too long it can be born deal and also if they are born feet and tail first they are usually born dead also. I've had mothers to have a puppy the next day after having a litter which is very normal but have never had them to wait 4 days. Good luck and what kind is she? I raise Yorkies.

Dogs can get pregnant more than once in the same gestation. For example if your dog coupled with two different males during her standing heat, part of the litter will be fathered by one dog and the other part by the second dog. She was probably impregnated twice. PS Cats are also capable of this

The poor, extremely tired, owner. I remember our then Dog, Siouxsie, had 7 Puppies in her first (and only) litter. For the initial 6 hours she wouldn't let my Wife or me near them, then I think the novelty wore off. She still suckled them, but wanted our company more than theirs. The room was covered in newspaper which needed changing 4 or 6 times a day- sheer chaos! After 6 weeks, "Bye!", off to new homes with our Friends, and I honestly believe that she was very relieved

were they all alive? if they were count yourself lucky, since you didn't notice she was still in labor for 4 days. i find this very hard to believe though, but nothing impossible. she needs to be seen by a vet to make sure she's not retaining other pups that could cause serious problems for mom. this is not another litter it's the same one.

yes , it means she retained the last part of her litter. its all one litter and only got stuck or her uterus got too weak to deliver them all at once. the last 3 born may die because she should have been checked by a vet after her first delivery stopped. the last born have not had enough oxygen and may not be able to survive. next time get vet care after she looks done ON THE SAME DAY AS THE DELIVERY BEGINS OR THE DAY AFTER.

Some serious damage may have been done to the Dam and you should get her to a Vet.
