This is a question that you will get the most varied answers from. So I will just tell you what I know. Knowing that God is there is called a testimony. And you only gain a testimony through sincere desire for it. And all the miracles in the world could not convince me of anything. But how I gained my testimony was through prayer, and tons and tons of research. I went to every religion there was asking all the hard questions. At the end of all my findings, I realized that only through a quiet assurance comes your answer of peace. Think of faith as a mustard seed. It is the smallest of all seeds. And even though it exists it can die within hours if not nurtured properly. If you ever feel the slightest incling to research something a little bit further, DO IT. You don't just all of a sudden know that God is there. You have to help the mustard seed grow. Do it by prayer, research, and listen to the still, small voice when it comes. And I promise that you will find what I have found. Not ANYONE could ever take my testimony away from me. And it's not like I go around telling everyone about God, but I definently know he is there. And after I have had that desire for knowledge, I can notice his hand in all things and he directs my path.

Ok. This is a question I've been thinking about my whole life. I recently had a revelation though. A few months ago my life was destroyed. I was abused by my ex, failed at my choice of career, and found my self not wanting to get out of bed. I stayed in bed for 2 months. My mom finally got me out of bed and made me get a job. I found it. I love my job and it has helped me figure out what I want to do. I finally had enough courage to get rid of my ex for good. I'm going back to school. I know many people say that that is just family, but I'm the happiest I have been in years. I love my life and just the fact that I could go from complete depression to utter happiness is proof enough for me.

Because I'm here. Evolution can explain how the world as we see it today got here. But it can't explain the First Cause that produced the primary organism that precipitated evolution. Nor can it explain the near perfection with which the world is ordered.
Ultimately, it's going to be something you take on faith. You can look around and substantiate your faith claims as I do. But if you want to believe in God you have to take that leap of faith.

If you believe in an entity enough it is real. Maybe not to others but to you yourself. It is just like how little kids really believe in Santa, to them he truly does exist. I don't believe that there has been or ever will be actual evidence that god exists. It is just what you believe and what you feel to be true.

You don't; you can't. You can't prove the existence of any god, much less a particular one.
You can say believing makes you feel better, and assume it proves your god's existence, though.
You can also not understand science, and therefore claims a god is the only possible explanation for what you wouldn't otherwise be able to understand - look at the anti-science rant a few posts below mine.

It is called faith. You don't see the wind but you feel the affects and breath air you don't see, it sustains life. God is very real, as real as you standing there in your boots cowboy.

Absolutely no way at all. It's all just what you believe. And just because a lot of people "believe" it, doesn't make it true. If there was one single truth or deity, then everyone would believe the same. And they don't. Which is a verifiable truth.

Faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen.
How do you know that there is a wind? You can see the effects of the wind but you can't see the wind.

Because I have the faith that He is. There is absolutely no way to prove God's existence. That's the beauty of faith.
