First, detangling or preventing tangling is easy. But if you can't handle tangles without using a relaxer than I suggest you not go natural just yet. Take some time to become familiar with natural hair. Going natural is a process. For alot of women they have never even done their hair without a relaxer. You at first will have to get to know your new hair, and understand how to maintain it.
Detangling afte braids:
1. After removing braids comb your hair out fully, make sure there are no knots, tangles, etc. Part hair in four sections. Comb ends to roots, not roots to end like most people do. Use a wide tooth comb. You can use a detangler to ease this process. I suggest Neutrogena Triple Moisutre Leave-in treatment. You probably will see some hair coming out , this is due to normal shedding that takes place. DON'T BE ALARMED.
2. After combing apply a conditoner to your hair. Make sure hair is saturated. Use wide tooth comb to comb hair. Do not brush. I suggest Burt Bee's Avacado pre-wash treatment, Herbal Essences Hello Hydration conditoner, Mane n' Tail Deep Moisturizing conditoner, or any conditoner you want that is either Moisurizing or Detangling.
3. Wash your hair with a detangling shampoo, such as: Cream of Natures detangling shampoo, Keracare, Motions( in kids section), anything you want as long as is says Detangling on the bottle, follow up by conditioning with the same conditoner you used before, comb hair in shower with a wide tooth comb while rinsing.
-If you put a relaxer in your hair you basicly have stopped the natural process, if you want to go natural after this you would have to begin all over again. You must wait 2 wks after taking out braids to relax hair.

RE:
Is it safe to perm hair after taking braids out?
i'm trying to let my hair grow out naturally without a lot of stress so i have started wearing braids. I keep them in for 2 weeks, take them out, wash my hair and get it rebraided the only problem is that my hair tangles really bad. Even with leave in conditioner and detangler it will still...

kymkim1 here! I studied Cosmetology in college. Relaxers and perms are very powerful. Powerful enough to change the chemistry of your hair. Braids dry your hair and can cause breakage. If you can endure a good two weeks of no braids or relaxer or perms you can began to strengthen your hair. Treat your hair for breakage and dryness professionally. Then put in the perm or relaxer. (Special Note: Relaxers straightens, Perms Curl)...Bouncing back and fourth will result in hair loss or serious damage.

If the stylist is any stylist at all, she will tell you not to have it permed until after she has gone thru puberty. If you have one put in, 99% chance it will not take, and you have paid for nothing. It will not be guaranteed, and if they do, they are crazy. You also are taking a chance on her having a chemical reaction, or allergic reaction to the solutions and possibly burning her sensitive scalp, and then it would blister up, and possibly hair falling out and not growing back. I have seen this happen lots of times, customers wouold come to me, and I would turn them away, then they come back later and say I should have listened. I would rather lose money on a perm, and have you to continue to come back to me, then to have a bad rep and word of mouth goes a long ways!!!

A perm then braiding can be damaging to your hair, especially if it has a tendency of falling out after braids. I would not recommend it. If you perm wait to braid.
