This can definitely happen in one of two ways. You can invite one in as my friend did and they will come. The second way is by playing with occult things you don't fully understand where an opportunity is created and demons sneak in and lay dormant until later in life. The changes that happen are subtle at first but begin to take hold and become more obvious as time moves on. A Christian cannot be possessed because Jesus is already taking up the required space. If your question is "can anyone BE possessed by A demon," the answer is NO.
"Daimonizomai" (demon possession) IS possible, but ONLY in people who have not accepted Jesus Christ as their Lord and Savior.
For anyone who gives Satan an open door, possession can manifest itself in severe physical/mental illness, specifically: paralysis, blindness, deafness, loss of speech, seizures, depression, violence, and/or self-mutilation.
There are many accounts of "evil" or "unclean" spirits in the Old Testament. King Saul was one victim (1 Samuel 16:14).
Jesus cast out quite a few in the New Testament.
Judas Iscariot, who betrayed Jesus, was actually possessed of Satan (Luke 22:3 / John 13:27)!
The bad news is: once a demon is cast out, if the host doesn't invite the Spirit of God in (Who cast the demon out in the first place), then the demon can return with seven other demons even worse than himself (Matthew 12:43-45 / Luke 11:24-26)!
The Good News is: the Spirit of God and Satan cannot dwell in the same house any more than light and darkness can share the same room.
*** So, if you have accepted Jesus (The Light of the World) as Lord of your life, then His Holy Spirit lives within you, driving out the darkness of Satan and YOU CAN NOT BE POSSESSED! ***
The best Scriptures to illustrate this are Matthew 12:29 & Mark 3:27, which basically say: In order for Satan to come in and take over a Believer's body, he would have to first "bind the strong man" or overtake God, Himself, which we all know is impossible!
This does NOT mean that as a Christian, you are no longer susceptible to Satan's OPPRESSIVE influence or sin. You just can't be CONTROLLED by him or his demons.
(You still have to make a conscious choice to do right.)

I would rather think of demons as negative energies or evil spirits. Knowing this, yes. Everyone has a weakness in their mind. It just depends on how strong the individual is and how strong the negative energy is. If people believe in things such as demons, they should also believe in magick.
I've tried divination before, which it seems I have a gift for. I have tested myself with friends and family. Not exactly sure if I can just predict things or also read minds. I also have predicted things in my sleep and have had flashes while awake, without even trying. Some of the things I have predicted happened as soon as two weeks or the next day or even within a matter of minutes.
Knowing things like this is rather disturbing. These predictions just happen, which I don't have much control over. I have yet to decide whether or not I want to refine my gift.

Yes if someone invites them in, through various forms of sorcery and witchcraft. Also any form of the occults are doors that people open, giving the demonic realm an open invitation to come right in. demonism is alive and well and still going strong on earth. But a demon can't just possess anybody unless it's been given the authority to do so.

My studies indicate that pretty much anyone can be possessed under the right conditions. Most of the time people are possessed because they allow themselves to be taken usually under false pretenses. Under very special conditions, the case of a young girl I researched from Germany, was possessed by a higher form better called a Devil. The priests discovered from the Devil that the girl was a danger to them but would not say why. After the girl had not eaten or drank anything for six months the priests decided to try an exorcism out of fear for the girls life. Exorcism worked but she died.

No they can not. Demonic possession is rare. Most people who become possessed do so because the have made a clear choice to follow the powers of darkness. Possession can happen when one goes into the spiritual world in a serious way, but most people do not do that and do not know how to do that. So unless you have sold your soul to Satan or have become a serious Necromancer, I would not be concerned.
A note about Christians. It is possible for a Christian who practices deep centering meditation on a regular basis to come in contact with demons. Jesus will protect you and they will not harm you. My Spiritual Advisers have told me that when this happens just keep you eye on Jesus and you will be fine. God will not allow them to harm you.

1. There are no real demons.
2. People with psychological issues may be metaphorically described as being possessed because the psychological personality and self is completely overwhelmed by the psychosis.
3. People who believe in demons may have their minds manufacture demons and project them outward, to give form to their internal issues and fears. The experience can seem very real, as in the case of Sleep Paralysis.

I am possessed by a demon and Jesus. I go to Church and scream and throw my self to the ground and make the Pasteur look like a idiot cus he can't cast it out to..find it in the bible latter by God some people possessed by a demon can't be casted out with authority, must be done so buy fasting and prayer, and I have a hard time to fast, I always give in after one day SO hungry, and its not fun having a demon in u, Ur bloody evil with him, fighting for whatever Righteousness there is left in U, Got the demon through hash & Gonja, Had a very demonic reaction to it, and five years latter,,hensce the greatseeker name I still have it asking God why won't U help me fast. I'll sit in church and freak out the demon when I worship God, Kinda funny and anouing at the same time. soo yess u can Get demon possesed Christian and nonChristian only differace I have controll over him throgh faith

The Bible is full of incidences where Jesus healed the demon possessed. And it is still going on today.
Be careful what you do, there are many things that will open doors that wont be so easy to close once they are open....

Good and evil is in every being with a conscious, you have to be willing to be "possessed", it's a very convenient way to give in to all your impulses and temptation by saying you are the "victim" of such a demon and not responsible for the wrong you do and would otherwise deny being capable of. "Who knows what evil lurks, deep in the hearts of men, the shadow knows!!! Bwhahahahahahahaha!!!" Sorry, the devil made me say it :P
