I'm not even sure if it's possible but I'm having more mood swings as of the last few months. My patience seems thin again. I've been on Lexapro for about two years and like the low side effects. I'm just wondering if anyone else has experienced a tolerance like effect. Also, what are some other low side effect antidepressants that I could try. I've tried Prozac and it's not for me. I need something mild. Thanks!

i was on lexapro 20mg for about 2 1/2 years and the same thing happened to me. antidepressants with low side effects that i have tried are wellbutrin xl which im on now and like. and also paxil cr. hope i helped i know how you feel.

What dosage are you taking?
I myself have been on Lexapro for about 1 1/2 years, and it has worked great for me. I am on 30mg daily. You may need to either increase or decrease your dosage. Tell your doc what's gonig on.

Yes, something similar happened to me. My doctor explained that it's not uncommon for people to develop a tolerance for drugs.
I'm taking Wellbutrin now and I love it. Talk to your doctor about your concerns and about the possibility of getting on another medication.

Important information
You should not use Lexapro if you also take pimozide, or if you are being treated with methylene blue injection.
Do not use Lexapro if you have taken an MAO inhibitor in the past 14 days. A dangerous drug interaction could occur. MAO inhibitors include isocarboxazid, linezolid, phenelzine, rasagiline, selegiline, and tranylcypromine.
Some young people have thoughts about suicide when first taking an antidepressant. Your doctor will need to check your progress at regular visits while you are using Lexapro. Your family or other caregivers should also be alert to changes in your mood or symptoms.
Do not give this medicine to anyone under 12 years.

I have not experienced this but my dosage is only 10mg per day.
The only side effect for me is sexual,it seems to numb me and I can last for several hours which is okay sometimes but boy it wears me out.

yes, it happens frequently, and usually we call it "poop-out".
talk to your doctor about switching meds. i take wellbutrin. i used to take paxil, but paxil is a strong drug (in the same drug family as lexapro), and you said you wanted lighter drugs.
