Well, first of all, crab does not have a high caloric or fat content.

And, a quarter pound is not much...no more than a quarter pound burger would be from a fast food restaurant. It's only 4 oz. So, my guess wouldn't be that you ate "too" much, even if you'd not eaten all day. Many times in my life, I've gone all day without eating, then eat that night. So, typically, that won't do it. God created our bodies to be able to fast and it's actually good to fast to give your digestive tract and organs a "break." So, no longer than you went without food, that little bit of food isn't huge.

And, it's not a greasy or spicy food or otherwise the type of food to upset your stomach. So, even if you had fasted, I don't think a dry, bland meat would be upsetting.

Gatorade or a clear soda like Sprite or 7up are good when you are vomiting. Avoid water, though, it only makes things worse. Go figure. I wonder what people drank when they were sick during the thousands of years that predated sodas! lol

An allergy could very well be the culprit. Many people have allergies or sensitivities to seafood. If you do eat seafood and particularly crab, you may be able to rule this one out.

So, that does leave food poisoning. When you say "fresh," are you meaning "uncooked?" That could do it, of course. However, if you simply mean fresh, it could still have made you sick. Seafood is very delicate. You have to make sure you handle it properly and keep it refrigerated properly. If they were crabs that people you knew recently caught, you have to consider if they kept them in water properly and/or on ice. Or, were they left out in the sun. I know here in the south, we've had a very warm couple of days, warm enough that if seafood was left out for too long, it would contaminate it.

It's hard to say. Drink the clear fluids and take the suggested Benadryl. It will only relieve the symptoms and make you feel better, even if you don't have an allergy.

If you don't start feeling some relief, you may need to go to the emergency room (assuming you're in the US, no matter what time zone you're in, I'm sure your doctor's office is now closed). Or, if you can tough it out, continue treating the symptoms, and if you're not better by morning, then call your primary doctor. It just might be the flu or something completely unrelated.

I hope you get to feeling better real soon.

God bless you!

Do you also feel exhausted? If so you may have the flu and it was just a coincidence about the crab.

The flu that's going around this season is weird. It involves a lot of throwing up. yuck.

Good luck. :o)

my guess is either two things, you ate to much after not eating all day and ate it to fast.. that usually would make you sick.. or you ate crab that wasnt good.. even if it was fresh, you never know if it had something wrong with it.. so yeah.. hope your feeling better..

You may have food poisoning or just a bad case of indigestion. You may want to take your temperature and make sure you don't have a fever and have a bug that just happened to start at the same time. Best of luck to you!!

are you allergic to it?

If so, maybe some benadryl? Or it could have just been some bad crab. Take some pepto bismol.
