i've gotten hooked on homemade smoothes, and i've been having about 3 a day. the only things i put in them is strawberries, milk, ice, and 1 tea spoon of sugar per glass. if i keep eating this many will i gain n e weight? i am an average size person who doesn't want to be like they were a year ago (10 lbs. bigger) my mom says that it's normal for me to eat this way because i am a teenager but i am still paranoid. will i gain weight?

It depends. If you're eating them in addition to everything you normally eat without increasing your physical activity, then you'll gain weight. If you're eating them in place of higher calorie meals or snacks you used to eat, you may lose weight.

If you like the smoothies, you can keep drinking them without gaining weight if you do the following things:

1. use nonfat milk instead of whole milk
2. reduce your intake of sodas, juices, or other sugary beverages to make up for the additional sugar you're getting in your smoothies

Another option would be to make smoothies out of a sugar substitute instead of real sugar. Or you could use strawberries, nonfat milk, ice, and some nonfat sugar-free flavored yogurt instead.

Other than the sugar and the whole milk (which would have too much fat and calories in it), it sounds like a much healthier drink for a teenager than what most kids your age drink. It has lots of calcium, which your body needs, and vitamins from the strawberries. So long as you make the substitutions above, you should be fine.
