Maybe we should put warning labels for the birds on the glass. hey, better yet, we can put a layer of sheet latex over the glass, that way the birds just bounce off. Actually, if we mounted small missles near the glass, every time a bird is heading towards the glass, the sensors launch the missle and takes the bird, the glass, and anyone standing within 1 city block out.
I may be frigging nuts but least I am looking for an answer rather then getting on my lefgt wing bleeding heart liberal wa-wa wagon and crying about it.

Birds do not recognize glass as existing. To them, it looks like clear space or, if mirrored, they see the reflections of sky and trees. Window Alert makes a decal that is barely visible to us but stands out for birds. (windowalert.com)
This isn't a frivolous question and the girl who wrote "LOL, it's funny" must be a cat lover. Millions of birds die every year because of run-ins with glass, some because of bird feeders placed too close to windows.
Daniel Klem of Allentown, PA, has studied wild bird mortality in relation to glass for two decades.
Any domestic bird owner can tell you that their birds have the same problem initially, but learn that windows are solid. One of the precautions before releasing a pet bird for free flight time is to cover all windows and mirrors.

Usually if it's a window that reflects the outside, birds see it as the nature around them. Since glass reflects the sky, they think they can fly through it, just like they soar through the skies.

A lot of times birds fly into glass because of reflections. We usually don't notice it but a lot of times the refections on our glass makes it look like "more nature" for the bird to fly in (reflections of the sky and trees) and they fly into the glass.

They dont notice the doors are there because they are concentrating on something else. Like when my bird flew into the window trying to fly to my mum

They see through the window. Beware of mirrors also. I had a red head fly into a mirror because she saw the reflection of a window and open sky. It took quite a lot of time and a lot of $ and she finally died a few years later from the meds they used to stop the swelling on her brain.

Because glass is not a natural thing so the birds don't know what it is or if it is there. They also see right through it so they don't recognize it is something other than air.
