Is it a self-esteem problem?

Seems like she is having problems with the "form" nature has imposed on her. You should tell her often that she is beautiful and perfect as she is and the way that she was created to go through this life.

Maybe you could rename her Melissa which in Hebrew I believe means "lioness of god."

Oh, dear. I didn't notice that you did not specify the sex of your cat. I am sure there is a comparable name for a male cat.

It could be. Or it might be the early signs of meglomania.
At present, it might be best just to humour your pet with the 'lion' thing. If it starts showing signs of wanting to take over the world, then you might have more of a problem.

Good luck to you.

well its not a problem unless he does damage. he seems to be very comfortable and happy. no self esteem problem here. seems like a huge ego, which i think is great. cats are normally timid. you've obviously raised him well.

ummmm... my brother has a dauschund with a Napoleon complex.... thinks he can take on bigger dogs...

I hope my brother's dog and your sister's cat never meet

Oh... if your cat thinks he is mountain lion then a mountain lion he is... there is noting you can say or do to convince him otherwise.

hmmmmmmm someone needs some therapy (not the cat) if you truly think your cat told you to call him/her a mountain lion

I don't think it's a problem. As the saying goes, "The important part is how you see yourself!"
