Often answers are being submitted at the same time; I've often started to type a 'first answer' but by the time I had submitted it there were already a whole bunch of other answers! So you don't know that the other person copied it.
Also, sometimes the second person can have the same facts, but he may have expressed himself better. That'd get my vote too.
Last of all, if I were sure a person had really copied the message (on a roleplaying forum someone once copied a rather long message in *exactly* the same words, including the same typo's :)), then I'd pick the first answer and give the second a big thumbs down! Real copying sucks indeed!

The way I vote, if 2 people gave an equally good or "correct" answer then I'll vote for the person who answered earlier. However, sometimes the first person put in a short answer just to be first, and the later answers have better details making them more "complete" answers - so in that case I would vote for them.
But I'm sure other people don't follow the same system, and it's not exactly fair, but it's not something you can control. :-)

Life is never fair. The word fair exists only in the dictionary. Anyway, just let it be, after all the points get you nowhere. Enjoy the answering or questioning, that's how I look at the site, won't let it disappoint or upset me.

Forget the points. Just answer the question to help someone. It doesn't matter it is the best or not the best. You did something good for yourself as well as for others. It is good for yourself, because it makes you think. It is good for others, because you helped them to solve the problem.
May God bless you.
P.S. I don't know what to do with all my points. I wish I can donate them to those who need them.

I agree with you but it is up to the public and that is the rule of the game. I will admit that sometimes I vote just for the person with the avatar because I hate not seeing an avatar.

I noticed, because I type slowly, and because me repeat on my keyboard doesn't work, that someone else always writes the same thing, while I was writing mine but they got there before I did. It's frustrating but oh well, what can I do?

uhhh...I think this is just supposed to be fun. Aren't you taking this a little too seriously? Besides, you can vote for yourself if the totally useless points are that important to you.

I will sometimes look at the answers to see if someone had an answer better than mine, then I won't answer.

no, i dont think its fair, but then again i guess its their decision.
Maybe they liked how the other persons answer was worded,i dont know, but im sure they should have picked your answer,i would have if it was the first correct one.

Life can be unfair. Maybe the person liked that other person better, who really knows.
