Automatic VS Manual.... Manual always wins... With proper maintenance, an automatic can last a long time, but generally not too much longer than 250,000 miles... although some have lasted much longer. As with all vehicles, the real answer lies with how the vehicle was driven and how it was maintained... if you mash the accelerator at every light and never replace the tranny fluid, then expect the thing to expire prematurely... With a manual, adjust the clutch when needed and drive sensibly and it could outlast the rest of the vehicle... If you have an automatic, you can always have an analysis done on the transmission fluid to see what could possibly go wrong in the near future !

steer sparkling of diesel's have greater existence! steer sparkling of diesel-3 hundred,000 miles chevy diesel-a hundred and fifty,000 miles Chevy makes use of the main inexpensive diesel engine, they simply made the duramax so as that they could say that they do have diesel's in the different hand steer sparkling of is spending greater effective than chevy spends in 40 diesel vans! Cummins engines are utilized in heavy autos which includes semis till now no such element could desire to overcome a cummins acceptable now so thats why dodges final longer Isuzu engines are used to go small stuff like coaches and homestead stuff the biggest engine they ever made grow to be the chevy's engine that they are asserting they completely suck and in under a hundred and fifty,000 miles they initiate providing you with issues which includes injectors!

Manuals ar almost forever, specially the NV4500.
Autos can be forever too, but they relay on your driving skills and maintenance. They have less towing capacity than manuals too, about 2/3. All my Dodge Trucks had been auto, my 1500 (1/2TON) gas '99 has almost 200K kilometers when it broke, fortunately it was in another hands; the 2001 2500 (3/4TON) has almost 200K kilometers and is still going. The 2005 3500 (1TON) only has 33K miles and nothing wrong so far.

If it is a standard, forever. If an automatic, save you money, they will not stand the test when it comes to the torque the diesel produces. Ford seems to have a good handle on automatics.

should have bought a power stroke and you wouldn't have to worry about how you drive it or what it pulls. i got three of them, t5heir all automatics, 99 02 04, they all stay hooked to a three car wedge trailers and have had to replace one of them at 375,000. Chevy man at heart but when it comes to business i went with a ford.
P.S. nothing wrong with the cummings, it's just that their tranny's are junk 6 speed or auto

It depends how you use the truck and how you maintain the same. Should last a long time if you do your maintenance.

all depends how ya drive with it,and how well ya maintain it. if you abuse it,it doesnt matter who made it,it'll fail early.you also failed to mention what year of dodge, weight class ( 3/4 or one ton ) 4x4/4x2, manual or automatic. so its really hard to give an accurate answer with out knowing the variables

depends. manuals are fine, automatics are very bad. chevy and ford are best w/ automatics. and for the people who said just because it's american it's bad...that's a harsh generalization that simply isn't true anymore.
