Go to the emergency room because if he takes anything it could react with the meds he is already taking. Usually Benadryl works for hives.

Has he taken anything that he may have been allergic to? Hives can be a sign of a serious allergic reaction. If he is having any difficulty breathing or signs of shock (pale, clammy skin; altered level of consciousness, feeling faint), CALL 911! If only his skin is affected and you suspect an allergic reaction, he can take 25-50 mg of Benadryl. To be safe, call a doctor!

Hives could be a result of either an allergic reaction to a medication he has taken or to food or anything that has come in contact with his skin that he is allergic to. an antihistimine will help like benedryl. You need to watch closely for swelling of the tongue or throat. Also, watch him closely to make sure his beathing is regular. If he has any trouble breathing or feels like his throat is closing get him to an ER or call 911 immediately. He could be having a sever allergic reaction that could cause his throat to close and he could die...obviously could be very serious. Call your doctor or his/her on-call sub.

2. Call the doctor's office.
3. Consider going to the ER.

Is he taking medication? It could be an alergic reaction. Or he has a high fever? Take him to the Dr.

And also, he could be allergic to medication he's taking for bronchitis. He should call his doctor immediately, but definitely take a otc drug such as Benadryl.
