If you can get that wage, then go for it. If you are licensed by your state, then that's all the better. Many states require licensure for those who take care of children.
That would not be the prevailing wage in my county/state. $8.00 an hour would be an acceptable wage based on the information you listed.
Also, remember to have a contract that details the do's and don'ts. Late fees if the parents don't pick up their children at the specified time, holidays (are you open or not), notice regarding vacations, etc...

Why not do a flat fee? I dont know how old you are, but I babysat a little in high shcool and got like $6 an hour, but being as you have a child and you have first hand experience, you may want to charge more.

well what are the parents like? I feel badly charging more for more kids sometimes because families with more kids have more bills, you know? I get on average about 7/hr for 1 kid and 10/hr for two kids. Some parents pay more, some pay less. Everyone has different financial situations. What are you babysitting them for? Are the parents at work?(charge less) or out on a dinner date(charge more)

depends if you're going to be watching your child as well and how many others you have to watch. Also depends on your experience- if you've watched children before this one month old of yours. Just go with a flat fee- i think most of the child care services around here (in the midwest-usa) get around 75-130 per child for 40 hour work week.

We pay $22 a day for each at a childcare that provides food. My stepmom charges 50 a day per kid in an upscale part of ca - and both had pre-k readiness - letters, #, sounds, lots of stories and reading, music ect. This is the hardest job ever!!! Don't get taken advantage of - you will be WORKING, and your reg. freedom is worth big$$$.
ps- my sm also potty trains for a few 100 $$$

See what the parents are willing to offer, how about a set daily rate, or a set weekly rate. The price depends on the area you live in, what is the going rate in your area, then go according to their pay scale. Best Wishes and Happy New year.
