1) How old are you?
2) Will this put you in danger?
3) Is it necessary to tell them?

Based on the nature of your families religion, you may want to weigh the percieved strain it would put on your family relationship and whether it is necessary to tell them and share your own religious beliefs. Love and accept that their beliefs are their own and look at how their own beliefs will impact how they will percieve and react to this news. Their view will not change. This does not mean that you can not love them and still follow your own beliefs...

Look within for guidance...

A few more details needed please :)

How old are you? Still live at home? How religious are your parents?

OK. If you still live at home and are under 18, I would suggest to try your hardest to wait until you've moved out. Your life could become unbearable if you are under 18 and still at home.

If you are still at home and over 18, start looking for an apartment just in case life becomes unbearable at home.

Not at home? Go ahead and tell them. If they are rabidly religious you will get serious backlash from them and whoever else that are very religious. Be prepared.

If they are Easter and Christmas religious (i.e. they go through the motions), they might not have a problem with it. You know your parents better than we do.

That one will be tough for you and them. Just be honest with them and open. There are a lot of different religions that say similar things. The important thing to remember and that maybe you can convey to them that the different religions are man made, and it comes down to your relationship with Christ. When you get to heaven God is not going to ask you what religion you were on earth. He is going to ask you how you lived your life for Him. How you not only served Him, but also how you served others. Make a difference no matter what church you decide to go to. Our goal is to make Heaven, and we should also make it our goal to take as many with us as we can!

It is that simple. Just be able to answer some questions as to why you think this religion is better than the one your family practices. as long as you got logical reasoning behind this it should not be a problem. If you can not discuss more than a I want to then you need to rethink.

Just tell them the truth. It's not going to be easy I'm sure, because they believe in their religion, just like you have yours now. You just need to be open that it may take time for them to be understanding. Try not to argue or change their religion. Just tell them the truth and invite them to see your religion.

Just tell them, that's what you want to do, be firm about it and if they love you they will accept it. I changed religions too. My family thought I was crazy, but one person who accepted it was my grandfather. He became very accepting of it. Even started buying me things related to that religion. My sister however doesn't like my religion and hasn't talked to me for years.

Try it. They may not like it. If they don't, start learning about the religion you're interested by researching it. When you're old enough to be on your own -- and if you're still interested, then pursue that religion.

Just say exactly that. They cannot force you to obey a religion you do not believe in.
