I'm writing a letter to Robin Williams, and I'm not quite sure if I should write "Dear Mr. Williams," or if "Dear Robin" will do.

Any help or personal experiences would be greatly appreciated :)

Some people don't like to be addressed as "Mr." or "Mrs." especially by their peers, which I would consider a fan their peer (I mean, after all.. we do pay his bills). I think "Dear Robin Williams is a win-win... I mean, you aren't trying to sell him anything!
