Very rarely will anybody of today talk about possession. It's not usually done anymore and most are treated for mental disorders and/or locked away. There is the rare occassion that a case of possession might be considered if there is supernatural phenomena happening around the person, or other disturbances that on the rare occassion "could" be a case for an exorcism.
But most are simply treated by the medical profession and barely ever is anything ever mentioned about the demonic. It's so rare now, it hardly exists. So what is your problem here?
There are cases of genuine demonic possession documented and witnessed. It's most unfair to deny a person the right to be examined for possible demonic interference if that person has exhausted all other means and their life is being ruined.
Here is an actual recording of an exorcism in Russia on a 16 year old girl. This happens more often over there, and if there are true cases, they have to record them on audio and keep them for future reference and proof.
Here is the link - click on play recording. http://paranormal.about.com/library/bl_exorcism_recording.htm
Make of it what you will. Your free to continue denying or putting your own swing on it if you wish. But there it is and the chanting by the ministers involved is taking the girl through the prayers and exorcism itself. It is rare to ever get hold of such material as this and you are free to email the person involved.

Just for the record, you are calling the opinion of some people silly and self-serving, but offer your own opinion w/o any more justification.
Seeing someone with psychosis gives a person no great insight into diagnosis or treatment. Psychosis is a chemical imbalance in the brain or a genetic aberration. Demonic possession is something quite different. Check out the eegs.

not really.
what is with all the straw man arguements tonight? its really a little old.
there are real demons, which are actual evil entitys which happen to be nonphysical, and there are non-real demons which really are just organic issues being called evil and demonic when its not, or are metaphysical but not actually evil.
I have personally experienced and dealt with circumstances that prove beyond the slightest thought of a doubt to me, and others involved that there is such thing as real demons.
I'd like to know how you call it psychoses when you have an encounter with the "demon" in one person, then again in another person. ... and the second person, having had no contact or knowlege of the first, refers to a detail specific to that encounter.
its like someone denying viruses and such, because they can't see such things, and that to them it makes more sense that people just vary sometimes between feeling good and feeling ill in various ways. not those silly little microscopic bugs you claim to see with your microscope.
edit: Im not disagreeing with tonks. I am not sure I'd say its quite *THAT* rare, but it is not a common thing, and much of what once was frequently called posession is not at all. or not entirely such. but there is the real thing too.

I agree. What most people do not realize is that while demonic possession is real, it is very, very rare. 99.9% of people with serious Psychiatric problems including Psychoses are not possessed. But it can happen when a person has of their own free will chosen to worship Satan and taken serious steps to invite demons into their life. It does NOT happen like in the movies. It does not happen against someones will. People who do not know either mental health or religion really should not say anything to someone who is troubled. Some people are very sensitive to suggestion and to tell them that they are possessed, when in fact they are not, is a very harmful thing to do.

A really great Doc once told me. If your patient complains of being stalked by a pink bunny rabbit then we have the rabbit arrested. It is much more tangible then trying to convince the patient that there is no pink rabbits. Who are we to say there is no pink rabbits?

That is a lie form the devil himself. Satan is real, and so are his demons as I have experievnced them in dreams and visions. I did not believe in them before I became a christian. I do now as I have first hand experience and it was not nice, they are pure evil, and you not believing satan has got you right where he wants you and that is to not believing in him. He want s you to think he is not real and sounds like he has got you.

Demons are not entities with intelligence, but merely personal obstacles. For example, I have some inner demons like holding grudges and food obsession. But they're my problems that I have the power to overcome.

demons are god's creations. He gave them the ability of possession. He gave them the chance to wreck so much harm. And this is why we support christianity?
