As you can tell from the variety of answers given (many of which even give conflicting answers about what is "traditionally" done), it's not an issue that has a clear anwers everyone would agree on. As long as you're happy with the order , that's all that really matters. Whatever you choose, you may want to keep the order throughout all wedding stationery, or mix it up.

If the company you're ordering it from has a suggestion (you'd be able to tell from looking at some of their samples), go with that. Otherwise, just go with whatever you prefer. Emily Post may also have a ruling on this, but any of those rules can easily be broken. Rest assured, no one will come up to you at your wedding to reprimand you for not getting the order right. And if they do (which would be in incredibly poor taste and bad etiquette anyway), just tell them you intentionally chose to break with "tradition" because it's your wedding and you're allowed to!

Not sure if that's helpful, but congratulations anyway!

The rule of thumb is that before the wedding the woman's name goes first and after the wedding, the man's. However, if you're not a traditional couple, do what you want!

In every catalog that I've seen it's the females name first. I just recieved my napkins & favors and My name was first. I didn't specify that it would be first that's just how it's done.

For wedding items, the bride's name is first. (ie, Mary and Steven Painter) This is because it is traditionally the last time the bride's name is first.

After the wedding, the groom's name will appear first. (ie. Steven and Mary Painter)

Her name always goes first. His second.
If it's very formal you wouldn't use her name at all it would be Mr and Mrs Derek Jones. But if using the informal (more casual version) its hers then his; Deborah and Derek Jones.

And remember... planing is suppose to be fun:)
