look at the contrast ratio like 5000:1 or higher is beter and refresh rate the lower the better 8ms is great if you can find lower that would be good but make sure it has a contarast ratio that is high... i.e. if a screen is 800:1contrast ratio and is 8ms its worse then 5000:1 w/ 8ms.

Yeah those two are among the best LCDs out there right now, the Sony may have a slight edge in the picture department though. Samsung is good too, but for me, I will be buying the Sharp Aquos this summer, hopefully their already great prices will drop more. Sharp has the cheapest True HD 1080p sets on the market right now so that is a definite plus, not to mention the beauty of the set, I love the silver speaker on the bottom of the screen, very nice touch. The Samsungs seem kinda shabby looking to me.

The Sharp Aquos series are the best in the lcd right now. They are a little more expensive than most other lcd screens, but they are well worth the price.

Also I would look at Samsung they are a very good company. Although I have heard people having trouble with their customer service. And the Sharps are very good televisions, my friend has one and he loves it, but I have also heard alot of reports of them breaking or not working from the begining and when my dad went into a best buy to buy a new tv the salesman said that he saw alot of them being returned. Since I haven't had any personal experience I can't really say but I have never had any problems with my Samsung and the Sony Bravias are very nice tvs but they can get expensive.

I would personally go with sony if you can afford it second would be samsung and Sharp third.

Whoever told you that--they are right. Pick by looking at the sets and the best price.
