just wondering why it is a big deal to non believers. if you know what a true christian is and that we are good people and kind and loving then why care just because we believe God created us. i understand there are some who say they are christians who like to judge and all. and take it to the extream. but there are also those who are not christians who go out and drink and drive and kill people. and you seem to not care about them or what they do. but not liking a christian just because we serve God and believe God created us is to me a dumb reason. we have are belief and you all have your belief just like muslims do and everyone else.

and i understand that as well. i am talking about if they new what a true christian was and what the Bible says. we all sin regardless of beliefs everyone does similar things. the differance is i understand you get rude christians because i see it as well who are the first to say you are going to hell. however if you dont believe in hell then you dont have anything to worry about. i had a friend from a different belief who told me that. i was like ok that is what you believe and i know were i am going cause of what i believe. but i was talking about a true christian. Bible says we are not to judge and we are to love everyone. i love everyone i just dont like there actions sometimes.

well again you are making an assumption. i dont use my tax money at all or claim it. our church is not rich. i pay my taxes cause they Bible says to pay our taxes. what is the gov. is the gov. and then i pay my tithes and offerings. and so called science for evolutionist use millions and billions of dollars as well.

and as far as science goes most christians are forced to have to put our kids thru science for them to graduate. so if schools would come up with an alternative then cool. and evolution itself is not science. in order to be science you have to beable to observe it over and over again and they cant with evolution.

and as far as gays rights go and abortions and stuff. that is not just christians. my buddy who does not go to church or believe in God fights for those things. i dont. i am against it but what people do is there own thing. as far as schools go it is not far to teach evolution and not creation. they teach evolution like it is 100 percent true and fact when reality it is not. i do believe in the Bible but that is not 100 percent proven either. both are just as equal. like i said there are many out there who are not christians who are against gays and abortions. i am against the act and not the person.

and i admit i let everyone know i believe in God. but i dont push it on them. however if you want to talk about bothering. there are more people who cuss and cures and do all sorts of stuff and that is offensive. not to mention i get more people trying to show me i am wrong. all i do is let people know what i believe cause i am not ashamed.

for a non believer. if you believed something would you not want everyone to follow.

i agree that some go way to far. but as i said over and over again. there are many who say they are christian but not living there life like one. if you new what a true christian was like then it would be different. and anyone can say they are a christian.

for instance a person drinking and dricing a true christian would seek help and stop drinking. someone who is not really would not care. we as christians are to repent from sins. drinking and getting drunk is a sin. repent means turn away from that sin. not cont.

just like is a person who commits murder are they a christian well i am not saying yes or no only God can say. however what if they keep doing it. some people say they are christian in hopes that there punishment is not that bad. a lot of people who get introuble also go that route. they also think that oh if they see i am changed person then i will get let out early or what not. now they claim to be christian get out and then cont. with what they did in the first place.

my point was that a true christian does not act like a lot of those. and regardless we all have our own beliefs. christian or not. there are those who dont like killing animals and are not christian. as a christian the Bible says we can eat meat. but you dont see anyone on this bashing a person who drinks and drives. or people who cuss a lot. not as much as you see non believers bashing christians. the Bible says for us to not be ashamed.

i dont critisize. i use non believers because if you believe in God then you believe. you may not be christian but you believe a non believer does not believe in God. that is why i use that term. i cant say atheist because some people are not atheist but still dont believe in God.

and non believers use cussing a lot as well as some who say they are christians. and i dont see anything wrong with saying what someone believes.

the other day at work at lunch i was reading my Bible to myself and some guy said that is offensive to me that you are reading that. yet he had i think lord of the rings book. so i just said i can understand if i was reading out loud. his book could have been offensive to me too. or one day i had a friend ask me a question about what i believe so i answered and someone said it was offensive talking about God. then that person went back to his story about how he got drunk and screwed this chick who he did not know or does not remember who it was.

sci·ence (sns) KEY

NOUN:

The observation, identification, description, experimental investigation, and theoretical explanation of phenomena.

science is all those. as there is an and at the end not or. the first thing on the list is observation. as i stated science you have to beable to observe it and they cant with evolution.

i guess why i ask too is cause people get mad that if some non believer person kills and if christians got all over and said see non believers kill for no reason non beleivers would be fighting back. non believers love to point out what a christian does wrong. most of what a christian does non believers do as well. i get it all the time at work. oh come on one ciggarette it wont hurt you. what is different about a non believer doing that as aposed to a christian who thinks non believers are going to hell trying to save that person.

if i was not a believer i would be more thankfull for trying to keep me out of hell and all but i dont believe in it. not get all mad. i understand if that christian conts. that is like a blind man about to go over a cliff. you would stop them and let him know what was about to happen. you would want to save him. that is all christians are trying to do. we think non believer are going to hell so we are just trying to save them.

in school i was constitly teased and spit on. because i was a christian.

i understand about the ones who are pushy. and as i said look and see what a true christian is. we dont judge. and we love everyone. i mean i am christian and i get that too. but honestly i dont get that as much as i do about people trying to get me to go out drinking and smoking. or people cussing and what not.

i understand about those christians but that is not what a christian is supposed to do. we are to let people know we believe and if they push us aside leave it. if they want to learn more God will bring them back. we are to live a christian life and that is one of the best witnesses to people. as a christian i get more people comming to me because they see how i live.

so instead of just telling my son that not everyone believes in God. because his teacher taught that there is no God and that they should believe in santa.

and also nothing against non believers but someone said more christians push there beliefs then atheist. well i defer that. for the fact that schools teach evolution and not creation. the only way people find out about creation is from someone telling them. everyone knows evolution for the most part unless you are home school or go to a christian school.

Happy New Years..I believe they care because Christianity is the TRUTH. There is a yearning deep within them that they cannot escape from, that makes them keep come back for more word..We must love them regardless of the negativity that they portray..Each time they read or listen to what we say, there spiritman that is deep within them is being fed. (Yes, we all have a spiritman from God that desires to be fed..What this spiritman desire is the word of God)..
If Non Christians continue to listen, there spiritman that is growing within them will one day become large enough to overpower the weakness that is within there flesh that is causing them to not believe. Continue to do your part by planting a seed in every opportunity that you get....for it is God Almighty who will give the increase to the seed that you have planted. May God Almighty's will be done in each person lives that read this statement, in Jesus name, Amen... love and peace

I don't have a problem with Christians or any other group believing the way they feel is right. Live and let live. As long as my right to believe the way I feel is right is respected, then I'm fine. I do have a problem with Christian beliefs when they [Christians] harass me on the bus or in a grocery store by asking if I'm "saved" and then preach to me about hell (I consider this a death threat) when I tell them I didn't come grocery shopping to have a theological discussion with a complete stranger. My problem with them escalates when they want to make laws that push their beliefs onto everyone else without a thought that maybe some people are different from them. It's hard to like people like that and it IS a big deal. Personal freedom is always a big deal and the majority of Christians want to deny it to nonbelievers.

I often wonder how Christians would feel if the tables were turned. What if they were the minority? What if being a Christian would disqualify a person from holding a political office? What if Christian children were forced to learn the Greek creation myth as absolute fact in a science class? What if a Christian who dared to wear a cross in public was constantly harassed and given death threats that the police just ignored? How long would these Christians like the people belonging to the dominant faith? If they're like most humans, I don't think they'd like them for long...

Non Christians only care about what Christians believe, when those Christians are telling the rest of us...with that arrogant and condescending attitude that some of them have, that they are the only ones who are right, and that the rest of us can go no place else except hell, if we don't repent and accept Jesus Christ as our Lord and Savior before it is too late. When they say this, they are coming across as hateful and arrogant and as if they think they are better than the rest of us, and that God favors them, and so on. It is not all that easy to explain, but people definitely don't like it, and they can't seem to grasp what they are doing to alienate so many people. I have tried to explain it numerous times on other questions, and so have quite a few other people, but it is sometimes like talking to a brick wall. Another thing that bothers people, is that certain Christians...especially the right wing fundamentalist Christians are always trying...and often succeeding....to get their beliefs turned into legislation that effects the lives of people who don't believe in it or agree with it.

I have said the same thing countless times. I don't discourage anyone from anything that is legal and offers them some degree of comfort. I only strike out in retaliation, I guess I am a counter-puncher. You must admit any fairy tale makes an inviting target. Little Red Riding Hood and the talking wolf who also does impersonations of old women while dressed in drag. My grandmother was a rough looking old woman but I think I would have been able to tell the difference between her and a wolf wearing her clothes.

The problem comes up when Christians declare themselves the sole authority of morality in the world and try to tell the rest of us how to live our lives. Especially when such telling is done with as much arrogance and condescension as possible.

When someone takes the moral high ground and then engages in exactly the behavior they've been harping on, the rest of us with somewhat clearer head tend to get snippy.

How does one know when they are "serving God?" God doesn't talk to you...at least I hope not! If you really do hear voices in your head I suggest some serious medication.

How does one know they are a "true christian"? ALL Christian sects proclaim that they are the "true Christians".

Very simple: because christian fundamentalists make it a point to push their agendas into society at the expense of others. The seek to marginalize science and education (by attacking evolution), medical research (stem cell research), equal rights for others (e.g. the FMA and the past cases of using the bible to support laws against miscegenation), reproductive choice, and freedom to practice one's religion. The latter is especially egregious given that Christian fundamentalists present society's mechanisms (which are meant to allow anyone to practice their religion) as being attacks against Christianity. History has shown that they want a theocracy in the United States, leveraging every major advantageous social climate to pursue their agendas (e.g. they leveraged the fears of the cold war = communism = atheism to get god added to money; they used bush's presidency to get lower-court appointments that have made rulings much more theocratic in nature, etc.).

As long as Christianity, as well as several of the other "ultimate truths", have as their end and gleefully sought after goal, the END OF THE WORLD, and as long as they believe that their rights are being violated if they are denied the opportunity to use the coercive power of the state to shove their god down every ones throat, you will have to put up with us being in your face. Why should we abandon a forum where we can let you know that you will not be allowed to carry out the silly "End Times" rubbish that you seem to forget would include the rest of us.

The problem is with your extremists, actually. Because of the christian extremists trying to impact laws and change society to coincide with their moral agenda, we're often forced to stand up against ALL forms of christianity ... since it's attempting to work it's way into our existence. Seperation of church and state ....

I couldn't care less what a person chooses to believe, providing it has no impact on me, my family, my freedoms and rights, the soceity I live in or the laws that govern it. Unfortunately, that's not what's happening.

What's happening is christianity attempting to govern laws based on the religious beliefs involved ... infringing on the rights and freedoms of people who are NOT christian. What's happening is christians condemning anyone who doesn't believe what they believe, spreading discrimination and hatred with it. What's happening is non believers being hounded and preached to constantly, even though personal beliefs should remain personal.

And as long as all of those things are happening, myself and many others like me will continue to speak out against christianity. Thank the extremists who gave your religion the horrible name it has, not the ones fighting for religious freedom (freedom FROM religion).

We don't care. That's why we're atheist.

By the way, you're right that there are many caring and loving and even tolerant Christians out. Its just that, at least for me, I've been told off by many Christians who've insulted my moral integrity because I don't believe in God. Then again, I've met plenty of gracious and understanding Christians aswell.

Now, if ever you come across an atheist whom insults you for your beliefs, I wish to God (or who ever) that you'd slap him/her.

Well, I'm not a Christian, but I do care what Christians believe in. I also care what people from every religion believe in. Religion is the thing that fascinates me the very most, and I'm in fact majoring in Religious Studies. I'm a Hindu, but I find truth in all religions, and I just find that it helps me understand other people better to understand what they believe in.
