I have just fallen in love with a man who has parkinsons and will be with him for always. he is my dream. he takes meds on a regular basis... every few hours to control the shaking. he mentioned last night that when he first started meds he would have upset stomach but in time that dissappeared. He can still drive... tho will not drive on freeway.... at night he has difficulty turning over from one side to another as his lower body shuts down and he needs to take the meds to get it going again (about 15-20 min to work). He has ropes at each side of his bed which he places there prior to sleeping so he can pull his body over in the night if he needs to. If he needs me to help him turn overI will. He does have some night sweats when sleeping from the meds and wears a loose tshirt to sleep in. He uses a plastic urinal at night and has just been doing this for the past couple years. He plays tennis 3 times a week with a group of people, pool, golf, and hikes a lot. He like to cook. He has lost some of his sense of smell and says he can taste food and has grown to like textures of food because of this. He tells me when you see someone really shaking a lot they are often overmedicated and continue the uncontrolled shaking movements till the med wears down a little. I have never sen him really shake as he has his meds figured out. He eats well and stays quite active. Our relationship is normal in most every way and I am so happy to have him in my life. .

above is some information....
I presume that since a celebrity has been diagnosed a lot of studies are being done to make further advances. There are drugs that will control the symptoms to an extent.. (Michael J. Fox is an example.. he's functioning).
I wish you the best.
