I think sugar, (like many other substances, i.e., salt, carbs, etc.), have been villified by an American culture that is neurotic, phobic, and uninformed about food.
Sugar does not cause diabetes, nor does it have more calories, gram for gram, than any other carbohydrate.
If you're REALLY concerned about health, than a natural product has to be better than lab-generated chemicals.

I'd go with sugar, mainly because sweet-n-low may leave a bitter aftertaste in most drinks. Sugar, at times, is difficult to dissolve, but doesn't leave a bad taste in your drink. Depending on the alcohol and type of drink made.....sugar is the best bet. Good luck.

Sugar substitutes have always tasted bitter to me. There is nothing sweet about them. I'd use real sugar, otherwise the drinks will turn out tasting like bitter dirt.
Besides, artificial sweeteners have their share of health risks, too. I'd rather have a little extra belly fat than stomach cancer any day.

You should really use "simple syrup"
boil down sugar and water till it becomes syrup
its a little time consuming but it works the best in cocktails

I prefer sugar, as science has shown that chemical sweetners are bad for your health. Althoug Splenda boasts about being natural, I'm kind of curious about the chemicle process to refine it? However, I don't like Splenda either.

depends on the drink. if you are dealing with cold items, sugar is not going to dissolve. so prepare simple syrup ahead of time or equal is the solution
