Sorry for your problems here
As an avid dog owner--I am sad for you and somewhat amiss to be telling you-- but-- you don't have a lot of time here
She has just about run the course of a normal life for the breed and is coming to the end of her life----you should make her days as comfortable and nice as possible ---get as much one on one "lovin" and stuff as you can---and prepare yourself for the loss-----
As far as the entry by the girl saying to "put her down" ----there might be a need for that at some point in time--- but--- that is something you ONLY do if it becomes evident that it HAS to be done to save major trauma or pain in the passing---and should that be the case---you'll know that when the time comes
Once again--use the time you have to let her know what a blessing she has been and how much she means to you---while she is still aware and at her life !!!!

I have a [non-Yorkie] dog who was also just diagnosed with CHF and has a compressed (collapsed) trachea. We have seen a veterinary specialist who treats dogs with heart problems. While costly, it seemed worth it to be sure that the treatment he was getting made sense and was the best course of action. I agree with everything Larry J7 said (above) and would encourage you to do what you feel is best for your dog and what you will be able to live with down the road without feeling like you should have done more. Best wishes to you and give that pooch lots of smooches - you're all he/she has!

I know that this is a family pet, but consider the following. My Mom had a Pom that had congestive heart failure. We decided to go with lassix (probably spelled wrong), the Pom's heart problems continued, of course, and led to kidney failure. We decided to put the Pom on dialysis. This continued for just under 2 years of treatments and seeing the vet weekly. Given the cost and the Pom's continued declining health, it probably would have been better if we humanely put her to sleep a lot sooner than we did. Even after the Pom was gone, we continued paying vet bills for about a year.
Obviously we loved our Pom dearly, but the decision was made at that time never to go into that kind of debt again. Never mind, putting our beloved pet through the discomfort of the treatments.

Sorry to hear about your Yorkie. Nobody will know the answer to your question. Instead of worrying how much longer she has - enjoy each day that you do have. The end will come all to soon but in the meantime make the time spent together special so that you can always look back with loving memories.

CHF can sometimes be treated very successfully with medication for years. It will depend on the dog and how comfortable they are with what is going on.
My friend treated her doberman with CHF for about 4 years on meds and his quality of life was great up until about the last week or so.
Only you can tell when it is time for you to let him go and the quality of his days you will be able to tell.
Enjoy him while he is still with you.

Your vet can tell you about how long she will have. Love her like every day is her last one. Spend as much time with her as you can. Do the things she loves to do. Feed her what she wants. I hope she will live many years more. Make her happy.

I would talk to your vet. The bad thing about dogs, they can die from 12-13 or 15-16. It depends on how healthy she is. You need to talk to your vet, your vet will know. It may be best, as bad as this sounds, just to put the dog down now to save him/her a lot of pain.
